SPIN Tribute Album to Prince’s Purple Rain

For this summer’s 25th anniversary of Prince’s classic movie and album Purple Rain, SPIN is excited to announce the release of Purplish Rain, a tribute album made up of nine tracks commissioned by the editors of SPIN.

The entire album will be available as a free download for SPIN magazine readers and subscribers via SPIN.com starting June 23. (Return to the site on that date for instructions about how to get your free download.)

Purplish Rain was produced to accompany the July cover story, an oral history of Purple Rain, for which contributing writer Brian Raftery spoke to most of the key people involved in the creation of the movie and album.

Title Fight – On Tour / New Record

Title Fight kicks off a U.S. Summer Tour today in support of its upcoming record, The Last Thing You Forget.

The band’s newest offering – which will be available in both 7-inch and CD format – is being released by Run For Cover Records on June 23, 2009. However, Title Fight will have copies while on tour.

You can stream one of the new songs, “Symmetry”, on the band’s Myspace page.

LIMP BIZKIT PERFORMS FIRST US TOUR DATE IN 8 YEARS

The most historic event in UFC just got bigger with the announcement that rap-metal pioneers Limp Bizkit are bringing the only performance in the US of their Unicorns N’ Rainbows tour to Mandalay Bay Beach on Friday, July 10th to perform in their first North American concert in eight years as a part of the UFC 100 weekend. The multi-platinum-selling group has picked the perfect time to return to North American stages, and you can be sure that once their hits “Break Stuff”, “Rollin’” and “My Way” start blasting through the speakers, you’ll have all the adrenaline you need for UFC 100 the next night on Saturday, July 11th.

ECHO SCREEN TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM AUGUST 4TH

New Jersey pop-rockers Echo Screen are back with their third record, an EP titled Goodbye Old Life, slated to drop August 4th. The five new songs were produced by Ace Enders (of The Early November fame), and will be released via the band’s own label, ES Music.

Echo Screen’s new EP will be accompanied by plenty of bonus material, including cover songs, unreleased tracks, demos from their previous full-length Euphoria, and live recordings.
