FEBRUARY 2008 PRESS RELEASES

02.27.08 DARKEST HOUR CANCELS FEW TOUR DATES
Darkest Hour
Alexa [04.11pm]
regrets that we have to cancel the last remaining days of our Doomsayer’s North American Tour. However, all of the shows will go on as scheduled (with the Red Chord headlining New York City, NY, and Allentown, PA) except for Washington, DC, which has been outright canceled.
The tour has been an amazing time but guitarist Kris Norris has been summoned home to attend to the early birth of his first little baby.
It is with great joy that we wish Kris and his wife Christina luck with their new addition to the family.
Sometimes when you live out on the road, life back home has to be put first. We couldnt have asked for a better tour package on this tour and our hearts go out to EMMURE, WHITE CHAPEL, and CHEPHALIC CARNAGE. We only hope to be blessed with their mighty rock again sometime soon.
Utmost, we apologize to all the fans, friends, dudes and dudettes out there in (NY, DC, and PA). We will be back to make it up to you for sure! We will see ya this summer with a surprise that we can’t wait to announce.
Thanks-
Darkest Hour

01.15.08 Mike Supina from Alucard (Search and Rescue) joins A Wilhelm Scream
Mike Supina of Alucard (Search and Rescue Records) has recently joined A Wilhelm Scream to fill its vacant guitarist position. Supina was with the band during its recent tour alongside Only Crime and Alucard’s labelmates The Swellers, and will be joining AWS for future tours and going into the studio with them at the end of the year to write another record.

A Wilhelm Scream posted a blog detailing the move:
To our loyal fans, critics, and people who don’t give a fuck – (but will post their opinion on the internet anyway out of a sheer attempt for attenion in their otherwise meaningless lives), A miracle has happened. No, not one of those miracles where a holiday will be made out of it in years to come, but something that should at least be celebrated with maybe a pathetic “ticker-tape parade”. (Like that episode of the Simpsons…”Welcome home, Space-girl!” … was that the pretzel episode?) Mike Supina, (aka. “Meehow”, “Shit-Dick”, “Psycho-Mike-oh”, etc.)… will be joining us on all of our upcoming tours, and coming into the studio with us at the end of the year to write the next record. Mike was with us on the tour with Only Crime and The Swellers, and he touched us – in a way that we want none of our girlfriends or parents/loved ones to know about. Never the less, there was a connection. So if any of you were wondering who the new guitarist is, It’s fuckin’ MIKE, okay?!?! SO, we’re fucking stoked to have this destroyer of a guitarist with us, in my opinion, he’s one of the best musician’s I’ve ever had the chance to share a stage with, and I can speak for the band when I say that we’re extremely excited to see what he brings to the table when we lock ourselves into the practice room to put together all the ideas that all of us have. THAT BEING SAID, we’ll see you UK fuckers in the next few days… and I know that there are places on the internet that say we’re going to (main land)europe (and many other strange, far away places) later on this year… it’s true, i just don’t know if i’m allowed to talk about it, or mention it yet. OOPS! More news at 11, Bri.

01.09.08 The Return of LESS THAN JAKE
The first four re-releases out of the gate on March 18, 2008 will be Goodbye Blue And White, Pezcore, Losers, Kings And Things We Don’t Understand and a DVD of Peoples History Of Less Than Jake. Packed with new artwork and a bonus DVD component for each of the albums, these will not only be must-haves for their legion of fans but a great introduction to the new breed of indie punk kids. “We wanted to start with Losers, Kings, And Things We Don’t Understand, which was our first recorded material as a band,” Vinnie continues. “These literally are some of the first songs we recorded together, and it seemed obvious that it should be one of the first releases on our newly started record label Sleep It Off. As a musician, the fact that I can help not only in creative marketing but release the actual audible history of our band on our own label is mind blowing. I think it’s a great time for the Music Industry that, despite the lagging sales, you are allowed to write and rewrite the rules. These days, it’s like the Old West, so to speak.”

06.15.07 Damiera re-form with lineup changes!
After a brief two-month hiatus, Damiera have returned to writing and performing music with a brand new lineup.

Back in April, three fourths of Damiera left the band to pursue other goals. The departing members were “seeking satisfaction elsewhere,” says continuing member and vocalist Dave Raymond, “they wanted to take another road for now… without having to be committed to a group setting.”

The new members consist of guitarist Steve Downs and drummer Josh Sparks, formerly of the Iowa-based band Spirit of the Stairway, and Jayson Dezuzio, a long time professional producer whose resume includes work with Coheed and Cambria, My Chemical Romance, and more. Dezuzio also produced the latest Damiera album, M(US)IC, which was released in January.

“I love music, and I will continue to let go of every excess (money, home, health, etc) in order to find my end in it,” states Raymond, “I have been extremely fortunate this far, but I’d rather end with nothing and satisfied than end with everything and not use it.”

Damiera will pick up where they left off, fire up the van, and begin touring with the new lineup in August.

06.02.07 A Letter From The Sleeping!
“This happens to be OUR FIRST HEADLINING TOUR EVER!!! It is an amazing feeling and we are extremely excited!!

We will be doing different legs of this tour and we will be bringing bands we not only think rock… but who are just all around good people that understand the importance of hard work and honesty. The bands/bros we will be bringing are:

    Envy On the Coast (7/06-7/17)
A Thorn for Every Heart (7/18-8/03)
    I Am the Avalanche (8/04-8/17)
A Day to Remember (ALL DATES)
    Valeyra (ALL DATES)

We cannot wait to hit the road with all of our good friends in these incredible bands.

Although, there is something else we would like to mention.

Every day we come across so many young bands who have been working their asses off trying to make a name for themselves. We see how important this life is to those doing it for the sake of working hard and bringing back honest music to the fans and that is something we have always appreciated. We told ourselves that one day if we ever got the chance, we would do our best to help out as many of those bands as possible.

So many bands get to a certain level and forget the fact that they once struggled to be where they are. Some take for granted the fact that they had good family, friends etc. from every angle believing in them and being supportive when they were at their worst of times and we think that sucks.

So with that said, we will be adding a local band on every single bill in every single city. Some will be good friends, some will be who we have met at gas stations and some will be found on the good ole’ Information Super Highway. No matter how we find them, we WILL have a local band on every show.

We might not know locals in every town we play, so we set up an email and myspace so people can let us know. Tell us about the best bands we dont know here www.myspace.com/196158479 or thesleepingtour2007@gmail.com.

Thank you all so much for taking the time to read this.

We really hope to see EVERY SINGLE ONE of our fans, new and old at these shows. Please come out and support. Lets have a tweakin good time!”

05.25.07 A MESSAGE FROM ON THE LAST DAY!
    “On The Last Day Fans,
We regret to inform you that singer Geoff Walker will no longer be a part of On The Last Day. For a while now, the band (Aaron, Drew, Frank, and Justin) has been trying to grow in a direction that Geoff’s presence would not allow. We feel that this course of action is ultimately the best for On The Last Day to continue its natural progression. We wish Geoff the best of luck with his future endeavors — wherever they may lead.
Make no mistake, On The Last Day will not stop here. Aaron, Drew, Frank, and Justin will continue On The Last Day without Geoff and begin searching for a new vocalist immediately. We currently have new material in the works and hope to debut it as soon as possible.

If you would like to audition, please contact us at:
    singforotld@gmail.com

    We hope you all understand.

    Love,

Also included on the disc are alternate versions of eight songs from the group’s 2006 full-length, Lover, The Lord Has Left Us…, that have been completely remixed by Portugal The Man, Technology, Evol Intent, and more.

    05.21.07 GO-KART SIGNS BANNER PILOT!
Go-kart Records are more than excited to announce that they have signed Banner Pilot.

Banner Pilot is a punk rock band from sunny Minneapolis, MN. What do they sound like? Well, imagine if Jawbreaker, The Lawrence Arms and the Alkaline Trio all got in a knife fight and Jawbreaker won, but just barely. Does that even make sense? Probably not. Either way, the music is great.

Formed in 2005, Banner Pilot self-released an 8-song EP called Pass the Poison in 2006. They will be heading into the studio this summer to record their debut full-length. When we know more details we will let you know.

04.05.07 BURY YOUR DEAD CHOOSES NEW SINGER,
HEADLINES DONT CALL IT A COMEBACK TOUR !
Victory Records metalcore titans Bury Your Dead have found a new singer to lead them on their upcoming six-week headlining tour of America, aptly titled the Dont Call It A Comeback Tour. Coming aboard is one of the most popular singers ever to come out of Australias hardcore scene – Michael Crafter. Previously, Crafter fronted Australian metal band I Killed The Prom Queen, as well as mosh-core group Carpathian. Crafter has also staged his own hardcore and metal fest Down Under, called Prepare To Burn, a.k.a. Crafterfest.

“After weeks of practice and hanging out, we have decided that Crafter is now our new front man”, states drummer Mark Castillo. “He’s an amazing dude and put forth a ton of effort to show us he was serious about being apart of BYD. Let the good times roll.”

Good times will roll out in full force during BYDs imminent headlining tour, which embarks on April 20 in Rochester, NY, and covers 45 dates before ending June 3 in Chicopee, MA. Joining them on the Dont Call It A Comeback Tour will be Suicide Silence, Stick To Your Guns and Since The Flood.TOUR DATES

    DECEMBER 2006 PRESS RELEASES

12.20.06 Motion City Soundtrack Make Limited Edition Christmas Shirt for Charity,
All Proceeds to Go to Callum Robbins
Motion City Soundtrack have made a limited edition Christmas shirt for charity with all proceeds going to Callum Robbins, son of J. and Janet Robbins. Callum is approaching his first birthday and was recently diagnosed with Type 1 Spinal Muscular Atrophy. This is a brutal disease for which there is no cure. The SMA Type 1 infant never attains the ability to sit independently and less than 20% of these children survive 4 years, and then only with indwelling tracheostomy tubes, occupational therapy and life in a wheelchair. Virtually all die from respiratory complications.

J., Janet and Cal live with this reality every day and the path before them is extremely long and arduous, not to mention expensive and consuming. Allopathic (“conventional”) doctors, while energetically engaged in research into this condition, can offer no cure for Callum. There may be some hope even if only for a better quality of life in alternative routes and therapies. These, of course, are not covered by health insurance. Its an incredible obstacle for a household where the only wage-earner is a self-employed indie recording engineer with single-payer insurance.

Callum’s father J. Robbins, a musician and producer, has been a huge influence on Motion City Soundtrack over the years. He has produced, engineered, and performed on some of their favorite records. In addition, he has fronted some of their favorite bands (Jawbox, Burning Airlines, and Channels – in which he shares vocal duties with Janet) and written some of their favorite songs.

If you can, please grab a shirt or poster today and help Callum and the Robbins family deal with what will certainly be some large medical costs in the coming months and years, the band would greatly appreciate it. The shirts are printed on 100% cotton, American Apparel t-shirts. For more information please visit www.motioncitysoundtrack.com. There are links to read more about Spinal Muscular Atrophy and links to make donations. You can donate using PayPal or you can send checks. All of the info is there.

12.18.06 HOT TOPIC PRESENTS THE 2007 SUB CITY TAKE ACTION TOUR – TICKETS ON SALE NOW!
December 18, 2006 Tickets for the 2007 Sub City Take Action! Tour, the celebrated nationwide, charity tour showcasing the premier talents in punk music and alternative music, went on sale the weekend of December 16 through Ticketmaster and Takeactiontour.com. The tour will kick off February 1, 2007, in Washington, DC and run for seven weeks in 40 states. The Take Action! Tour brings the issues of suicide and depression to the front page and benefits the Youth America Hotline! 1-877-YOUTHLINE (968-8454).

Headlining the sixth annual Take Action! Tour this year is The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, performing with Emery, Scary Kids Scaring Kids, A Static Lullaby and Kaddisfly. The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus debut album, Dont You Fake It, has been certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The album was released just 4 months ago and entered the Billboard Top 200 national album sales chart at #25, they currently have the #6 song in the country at Alternative Radio with “Face Down,” which tackles the tough topic of domestic violence.

This years ticket pre-sale was the most successful in the tours history making it very important for fans to act quickly on the fast selling tickets.

Take Action, founded by Hopeless & Sub City Records, aims to create a better world, one voice and one action at a time. By working with various non-profit organizations, Take Action strives to educate people about the positive difference that can be made by each of us in our community through activism and charitable work. Hopeless/Sub City Records founder Louis Posen talks about why the tour is important. Suicide kills 13 people every day between the ages of 12 and 24. We hope that together, we will be able to significantly lower that number by letting people know there are resources available and people who care. I can only imagine what wonderful things those 13 people per day could bring to the world if they only had the chance.”

Hopeless & Sub City Records are happy to once again donate 10% of all 2007 Take Action! Tour ticket sales and 5% of the retail price for each Take Action! Volume 6 compilation CD sold to the Youth America Hotline! 1-877-YOUTHLINE (968-8454). The benefiting charity was founded by the Kristin Brooks Hope Center to help young people in crisis through peer-to-peer counseling and educating young people about mental health issues. Take Action raised over $100,000 last year for the Youth America Hotline! Since the start of the tour in 2001, Take Action! has raised over $350,000 for the Kristin Brooks Hope Center and the awareness built has helped increase government funding for suicide prevention from $0 to $16 million.

Hot Topic, the music lifestyle mall retailer (hottopic.com), is once again the title sponsor of the tour. Hot Topic is a natural fit, as they demonstrate a passion for music in everything they do. Since the inception of Take Action in 1999, Hot Topic has been an enthusiastic supporter of the Take Action cause, helping to save countless lives and educate millions of people to make a difference. 12.18.06 GOOD MORNING REVIVAL!
For the upcoming single off their new album GOOD MORNING REVIVAL, now set for release March 20 on Epic/Daylight, rockers GOOD CHARLOTTE–JOEL MADDEN (vocals), BENJI MADDEN (guitar), BILLY MARTIN (guitar) and PAUL THOMAS (bass)–brought longtime friends and fellow musicians M. Shadows and Synyster Gates (of Avenged Sevenfold) into the mix to collaborate on the albums first single The River. Look for the song–an impassioned rocker about sin and redemption that traverses the dark side of Los Angeles–to arrive at radio in January.

The River, which marks the first time GOOD CHARLOTTE has officially collaborated with another artist on an album, seemed to be a natural fit for both bands. Weve been friends with Avenged for a longtime. This wasnt planned, but it ended up working out, JOEL explains. We were sitting around listening to some new music and they liked that song so we asked them to jump on. It felt right and sounded really cool. Aside from being friends of ours, were also fans of their music and since this is our first collaboration, we couldnt be happier that theyre a part of our record.

    M. Shadows, who provides some vocals on the song, explains, Were always down to try something new. Our new album will feature influences and collaborations with artists whose music is totally different than ours, so playing on The River seemed totally natural. The fact that we get to perform with our friends makes it that much cooler. How many friends get to do something like this?

For the video, GOOD CHARLOTTE joined forces again with director Marc Webb (Good Charlottes Festival Song, A.F.I.s Love Like Winter, My Chemical Romances Helena) and shot on location in Los Angeles last week. The video–which includes an appearance from M. Shadows and Synyster Gates–features GOOD CHARLOTTE performing alongside the concrete L.A. river bank that runs through the city, contrasted with classic images of the beauty and history of Los Angeles.

Although sonically different than their previous efforts, GOOD CHARLOTTE reunited with producer Don Gilmore for their fourth studio album GOOD MORNING REVIVAL. Gilmore also produced the bands self-titled debut in 2000, in addition to working with such acts as Pearl Jam, Linkin Park and Avril Lavigne. GOOD MORNING REVIVAL marks the follow-up to 2004s platinum-selling Chronicles Of Life And Death, which is part of a body of work that has resulted in worldwide album sales exceeding nine million copies.

Look for GOOD CHARLOTTE to launch a world tour after the albums release. For the latest news on the band, check out www.goodcharlotte.com and www.myspace.com/goodcharlotte.

Avenged Sevenfolds City of Evil was one of this years most acclaimed albums, described by Kerrang! as “technically dazzling and fiendishly inventive and wholly distinct from everything else (KKKKK). With sales of over a million worldwide, Avenged Sevenfold was named MTVs Best New Artist at the 2006 Video Music Awards. The band is currently in the studio working on their highly anticipated follow-up to City of Evil, due out mid 2007.
