Estrella: Could you please state your name and what you do in the band.
Tom: Tom, guitar.
Alex: Alex, drums.
Estrella: How has tour been with The Sleeping so far?
Tom: Terrible. Just kidding, it’s been awesome, it’s sold out, every night.
Alex: They hang out every night.
Estrella: How did all of your members meet?
Tom: Originally, I started the band with two members that aren’t in the band anymore and Jeremy was in a ska band singing, throw it out there – ska band. I asked him to be in this band and then our guitar player quit, so we got Neil who’s just a friend of ours and hung out. Josh was like a huge A Day To Remember fan and Alex was in a local band that was good, so we found him.
Estrella: Could you describe your music to someone who’s never heard it?
Alex: It’s like – uplifting, pissed off music.
Estrella: Who are some of your personal influences as to why you have a band?
Tom: I have weird influences that really don’t effect our music whatsoever but I’ll tell you anyway – Nirvana is like my favorite band ever. I listen to George Jones a lot. A lot of country. Everyone’s different. Blink-182!
Estrella: What do you think you’d be doing if you weren’t in a band?
Tom: I work in a recording studio, so I’d be doing that.
Alex: I’d be going to school.
Tom: Yeah, he’s only 16.
Alex: Actually, it’s summer vacation right now.
Estrella: Have you gained any crazy tour stories you’re willing to share?
Tom: We don’t get that kind of stuff. No crazy things. There has to be something… I have the worst memory ever, so I probably don’t remember, I’m sorry.
Estrella: When it came to when you signed with Indianola, how did that come about?
Tom: The guy who’s our tour manager now, he used to book shows in West Palm Beach, and we recorded this 5 song EP and he gave that to the owner of Indianola and he contacted us that he wanted us and things like that.
Estrella: Since you’ve recently signed with Victory, did your contract with Indianola end or what happened?
Tom: It’s a complicated story. We asked for the contract to end. We were on Indianola, we weren’t doing anything at all. They never really talked to us, so it’s like we weren’t even on it. They don’t do too much. When we were on the label, we sold alright, but we never talked to them. We maybe talked to them 4 times and they still have never seen us play live to this day. We knew Victory was interested so we just thought, yeah let’s part ways.
Estrella: If you were stranded on a desert island, what are 3 things you’d take with you?
Tom: Jager.
Estrella: Lifetime supply?
Tom: Lifetime supply – of course. Jager, Ipod (batteries), a female who doesn’t speak.
Alex: I would take jetskis, Ipod with an endless battery, and Dr. Pepper.
Estrella: Lifetime supply.
Estrella: Favorite breakfast cereal?
Tom: Cinnamon Toast Crunch and Cocoa Krispies.
Alex: Cinnamon Toast Crunch.
Estrella: Best halloween costume you’ve ever worn?
Alex: Giant banana, I still have it.
Tom: The last time I dressed up for Halloween, I was like 13, I don’t remember, I don’t have a clue. I don’t think I ever did anything interesting but put face paint on because I wanted candy.
Estrella: Who are you currently listening to?
Alex: The Higher, Silverstein, and The Almost.
Tom: G-Unit, 50 Cent, Eminem, I swear to God, I’m not kidding.
Estrella: Any advice you’d like to give to any bands trying to tour or anything like that.
Tom: Don’t have a girlfriend and be on tour, it’s impossible. Don’t have unprotected sex on tour. Just don’t give up touring, it’s really hard, a lot of people give up. Don’t stop, it’ll work out in your favor eventually.
Estrella: Any closing statements?
Tom: We love you, all of you, all of our fans, we love every single one of them to death. And we put our numbers on our Myspace so call us whenever you want.
Alex: 352-502-0494 thank you, call me, bye.
