Estrella: Could you please state your name?
Craig: My name is Craig Campbell.

Estrella: It’s the fourth day on Willie Nelson’s Country Throwdown tour, how has it been so far?
Craig: It’s actually been a lot smoother than I expected it to be. We had a few kinks that we got worked out and there’s still a lot more to be worked out. We’re figuring it out. It’s gonna be a smooth sewing machine once we get them all worked out.
Estrella: What are you are you anticipating for the rest of tour? Smooth sailing?
Craig: Absolutely. There’s definitely going to be country music and a lot of fun and a lot of good times and maybe a couple games of cornhole.

Estrella: The last album you released, could you give me any insight on the recording process for it and how long it took for you?
Craig: Only album! We started recording back in 09, we recorded 5 songs and we put out a 5 song EP, sometime around early 2010 the 5 song EP was available on my website and Itunes and then we went in and finished the record and we recorded 8 more songs and the official (we added 8 songs and put the whole record together) and it came out this past April. I mean, it took a long time, but I guess you can say I’ve been working on it for five or six years because that’s how long I’ve been writing these songs. Once we started the process, it didn’t take any time at all.

Estrella: I’ve read that Luke Bryan gave you the advice that since you write your own songs, you could sing your own songs, would you say that’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
Craig: It’s definitely on the tops. He just said that, “I can’t tell you that this is how I made it for me or if this is the right way or the wrong way, this is what I did and it opened up so many doors and has introduced me to so many people”, so I took it and I ran with it and I have to say that it helped out a lot.

Estrella: What’s some of the advice you would give to a singer/songwriter, trying to break into any type of genre, whether country or rock or whatever?
Craig: Just keep after it. Take no for answer. If it’s something you want and you really want it, go get it. Nobody’s gonna give it to you. I also think that, you gotta ask yourself if you’re good enough. I think there’s a lot of people think they’re good enough. You gotta ask yourself are you as good as so and so? Are you as good as Carrie Underwood? Are you as good as Brad Paisley? And if you are and you can answer that and be honest with yourself then go get it.

Estrella: If you were stranded on a desert island, what are three things you’d take with you?
Craig: My wife, A guitar, my babies, I don’t know my family!

Estrella: What are three things that can be found in your fridge?
Craig: Right now?
Estrella: Yup.
Craig: Mayonnaise, can’t stand Miracle Whip, milk, and apple juice. My little girl loves apple juice.

Estrella: Do you have any crazy tour stories that you’re willing to share?
Craig: We had this bus driver for the past week, who’s terrible. I actually became airborne in my bunk at one time so needless to say, I woke up from a dead sleep, so just the fact that our bus driver is about to kill us everyday.
Estrella: Everyday struggle.

Estrella: What’s the best Halloween costume you’ve ever worn?
Craig: I dressed up like a clown one time.
Estrella: That’s your best?
Craig: I don’t really dress up.
Estrella: Even when you were little?
Craig: That was when I was little. I won a contest too!

Estrella: What are your upcoming plans after the Country Throwdown Tour?
Craig: I’ve got a new single coming out. Actually, it’s already out, so we’re going to keep pushing that thing and get out there. From now until September, I’m slammed with shows, so I’m just gonna get out there and sing some music and recruit some new fans and try to introduce them to the Craig Campbell explosion.

Estrella: Do you have any closing statements?
Craig: Closing statements… my name is Craig Campbell and I approve this message.
