Estrella: Could you please state your name?
Lukas: My name is Lukas Autry Nelson, I don’t have a serial number but that’s coming soon. Hopefully not! Knock on wood.

Estrella: You’re on the fourth day of the Country Throwdown tour, how has that been going for you so far?
Lukas: I love it. I’m having fun.
Estrella: What are you anticipating for the rest of the tour?
Lukas: That’s a great question to follow up with that question. I think it’s going to be fun from here until the end, and after that too. That’s a month and a half of absolute fun.

Estrella: In December, you released a self titled album, how long did that take you to record?
Lukas: 18 days.
Estrella: Oh well, I’m sure it’s been in the works for a while though?
Lukas: My whole life. It was our first album as this band with the songs I’d written that are my best to date, I think. For some of them, we didn’t even get all of them on the album, we did 21 songs and we got 12 on the album.

Estrella: What are your plans for after Country Throwdown tour?
Lukas: I think, we’re going to have a lot more touring on our website, promiseofthereal.com, everyone asks me where I’m going to be playing and that’s where I go to find out.

Estrella: Do you have any crazy tour stories that you’re willing to share?
Lukas: Yeah. One time, after a show in Hawaii, I was sitting and talking to a gal and we were kind of getting along nicely and then all of a sudden some thing jumps on my back and sticks its tongue in my ear and starts swirling it around and licking my face and I threw it off because I didn’t know what it was and it turned out to be about a 55 year old woman and she was very horny. I said “I’m sorry for throwing you off of my back but I didn’t know what you were.” So that was pretty crazy.

Estrella: What are three items that can always be found in your fridge?
Lukas: Hummus, usually. Oranges and we always have some sort of organic milk.

Estrella: Three things you would take with you on a desert island, if you were stranded?
Lukas: A guitar, a pen, and paper. Actually, probably a booklet of papers.

Estrella: What is the best Halloween costume you’ve ever worn?
Lukas: Damn. I really love ninjas. Samurai. When I was a kid, I would dress up like a samurai.

Estrella: Do you have any advice for any singer/songwriters that want to break into music, any genre?
Lukas: Yeah, just keep writing your own songs and also learn other people’s songs because you learn other people’s songs, people you admire, because then you start getting the foundation and when you start writing your own songs based on what you hear from other people, cause that’s all anybody does, they base songs based on the music that’s out there in the world already and then they branch off on their own flavor to it and that’s what makes it theirs.

Estrella: Do you have any closing statements?
Lukas: Well, we’ve come to the end of our broadcasting, I’d like to thank our sponsors, Cannibus Incorporated and Monte International. Glad you could make it today and we hope you come again soon. Tune in!
