THE GAY BLADES Set to Release Debut Album – Ghosts – Due Out Fall 2008

This fall, The Gay Blades will release their debut full-length album, Ghosts, on their imprint, 4Never Records, via Triple Crown Records. They will precede their full-length with a digital 7” release through RCRD LBL (Cold War Kids, Tokyo Police Club, Santogold) this summer.  Catch them soon as they take their T Rex/Bill Murray inspired live show on the road as part of their “Touring the Dustbowl and Back” tour with dates into August.

“If Freddie Mercury sang for Death From Above 1979, these guys would open the show.” – CMJ

The Gay Blades are a two piece from New York City and play an acerbic brand of Trash Pop. What is Trash Pop, you ask? Trash pop is what happens when two keenly observant wannabe hipsters write and record songs the same pair couldn’t possibly pull off live, and make up for their missing bass player with consistent TNT like performances and a heaping spoonful of swagger. Clark Westfield plays the guitar and Puppy Mills plays the drums. They met when volunteering in a traveling sideshow while still in college, Clark juggling and Puppy taking tickets.  Afterwards, back in NYC, they formed The Gay Blades.

They have been called “retro-trangressors” by the Village Voice and after first listen to Ghosts, with its twelve eccentric and trashy pop songs, including two “en-dance-d” bonus remixes, you’ll see why.  From the stand out track and first single, “O Shot” (showcasing drummer Puppy Mills’ glamorous and propulsive drums) to “Why Can’t I Grow A Beard?“ (where Clark Westfield takes cues from his idol, Brian Wilson, becoming the recluse he knows he never could be), The Gay Blades grab your attention and keep it.

The band was featured in Alternative Press’ Unsigned Bands to Watch column earlier this year, as well as NYC Tastemaker ‘zine and blog, The Deli, as January 2008’s Artist of the Month and hailing the duo as one of the Top Bands in NYC.

Check out www.thegayblades.com or www.myspace.com/gayblades for further info and to see why The Gay Blades wished The Eagles of Death Metal would just lift the restraining order already…

LESS THAN JAKE to broadcast live concert online via Woozyfly.com on July 12

On July 12th 2008, ska pop punk band LESS THAN JAKE will be broadcasting their concert live on Woozyfly.com from The Chance in Poughkeepsie, New York. The evening promises a whirlwind of activity, from fan interviews, to backstage shenanigans, exclusive band interviews and finally the rocking live performance from LESS THAN JAKE.

Currently in the midst of the Shout It Loud II Tour with Goldfinger, Big D and the Kids Table, and Suburban Legends, the boys are celebrating their critically-acclaimed and fan-hailed new album GNV FLA, which was recently released on their own label Sleep It Off Records. In addition, they just announced a handful of September dates with Rancid (dates below).

Woozyfly.com is a music media and networking website that specializes in live broadcasting and allows users to create their own profile to broadcast their own live Internet show. Woozyfly will broadcast live the LESS THAN JAKE concert so the band can connect to their fans like never before. The live broadcast will run from 8PM to Midnight EST.

Fans can tune in and watch live all the unexpected surprises at this link: www.woozyfly.com/lessthanjake

GNV FLAis more than appropriately titled as it references the band’s college town of Gainesville, Florida where they first got their start. The album too is a throwback to the earlier days with the raw sound and energy that first gained attention over a decade ago. The current Shout Out Loud II Tour features the live debut of the new songs from GNV FLA speckled amidst many of their older hits.

ALL TIME LOW on headlining tour July 11-July 21

One of the year’s biggest success stories, Maryland’s All Time Low (www.myspace.com/alltimelow) has a busy summer ahead as the band embarks on a summer headline tour with special guests Hit The Lights, Valencia and There For Tomorrow, before heading out for the second half of the Vans Warped Tour on July 23. This will be followed by a stint on mtvU’s Video Music Awards Tour with Katy Perry and Boys Like Girls.

This past spring, the four piece pop punk outfit made its network TV debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live, graced the cover of Alternative Press while co-headlining the AP Tour, and quickly became fan favorites as its “Dear Maria, Count Me In” video became a staple on MTV. With its Hopeless Records debut full-length So Wrong, It’s Right still firmly entrenched on the charts, All Time Low is eager to get back out on the road.

The band’s live version of “Dear Maria, Count Me In” from mtvU’s Campus Invasion was recently the #1 most viewed video on mtvU.com, and the video for “Dear Maria, Count Me In” has been viewed online over 2 million times total via MTV.com, Youtube and MyspaceTV.

This week, All Time Low is #55 on the Independent Label A

lbums chart, #56 on iTunes Top Alternative Albums chart, #47 on iTunes Top Alternative Songs chart (“Dear Maria”)

ATL is reuniting with director Travis Kopach (Panic At The Disco, Meg & Dia, Circa Survive) in NYC this week to shoot a new music video for their next single
“Poppin’ Champagne”.

THE SILENTS to release debut album Sleepwalker, September 9th

By fusing dynamic elements of alternative, new-wave and grunge, THE SILENTS have surfaced with a fresh blend of high energy, visceral and intelligent rock. On September 9, 2008, the Chicago four-piece outfit will release their debut album SLEEPWALKER.

As an album two years in the making, SLEEPWALKER represents not only a distinct span of time, but also a vast array of personal and musical influence. Personal narratives lie in the subtext of lyrics that flow over stylistically transient music—pulling hints of gothy post-punk that meets melodically charged and grungy rock. Pop sensibilities keep each track engaging with sweet hooks and sensible harmonies, while chords tread minor and dark and return bright all over again. THE SILENTS will bring the live experience of the new album to hometown fans in Chicago on Friday, August 8 with an appearance at Metro.

The first single from SLEEPWALKER, “Dream On Empty,” fills the void between new-wave and modern alternative, taking cues from the likes of both Joy Divison and The Killers. The song is streaming online now on Myspace at www.myspace.com/thesilents.

Hit The Lights Return With “Skip School, Start Fights” In Stores Tuesday July 8

Lima, Ohio pop punkers HIT THE LIGHTS will release their sophomore record Skip School, Start Fights July 8th on Triple Crown Records. Skip School, Start Fights is the follow up to 2006’s buzzworthy This Is A Stickup…Don’t Make It A Murder which put Hit The Lights on the map and saw them tour with New Found Glory, Paramore, Cute Is What We Aim For, Cartel and Boys Like Girls. The band will be on the road all summer, see below for confirmed dates with Set Your Goals, All Time Low, I Am The Avalanche and more.

Skip School, Start Fights was produced by Rob Freeman (Hidden In Plain View) at Pilot Studios in New Jersey and mixed by Zach Odom and Kenneth Mount (Mayday Parade, All Time Low, Cartel).

Hit The Lights went through a lineup shuffle before they recorded Skip School, Start Fights. When former lead singer Colin Ross left the band last summer to pursue the quiet life, HTL decided it was time to unleash their secret weapon…it was time for their guitar player, Nick Thompson, to step into the limelight as lead singer. So how do they sound now that Nick’s leading the charge? Better than ever. Obviously. Hit The Lights are now a four piece consisting of Nick Thompson (Vocals), Omar Zehery (Guitar), Nate Van Dame (Drums) and Dave Bermusk (Bass).

Head over to Myspace now for the exlusive album premiere of Hit The Lights’ Skip School, Start Fights.
