In the 1960s artists such as Janis Joplin and The Band toured across Canada on the rail carrier VIA. The artists would play venues in the cities along the rail route and would also perform intimate acoustic sets on the train.
Fresh off his recent performance at Pop Montreal, Jon McKiel is resurrecting this “green” mode of touring as he heads out on his own VIA sponsored rail tour. Jon will perform in seven cities along the rail route as do daily acoustic shows on the train. The tour will finish in Jon’s home province with a performance at Nova Scotia Music Week.
While out on tour, Jon will be dropping by the CBC on October 23rd to do an interview with Tariq Hussain. During the interview Jon will discuss the recording of his new record tentatively titled “Tonka War Cloud.” The record, which is nearing completion, is being engineered by Diego Medina and will be released in early 2010.
