DECEMBER 2006 PRESS RELEASES

12.20.06 Motion City Soundtrack Make Limited Edition Christmas Shirt for Charity,
All Proceeds to Go to Callum Robbins
Motion City Soundtrack have made a limited edition Christmas shirt for charity with all proceeds going to Callum Robbins, son of J. and Janet Robbins. Callum is approaching his first birthday and was recently diagnosed with Type 1 Spinal Muscular Atrophy. This is a brutal disease for which there is no cure. The SMA Type 1 infant never attains the ability to sit independently and less than 20% of these children survive 4 years, and then only with indwelling tracheostomy tubes, occupational therapy and life in a wheelchair. Virtually all die from respiratory complications.

J., Janet and Cal live with this reality every day and the path before them is extremely long and arduous, not to mention expensive and consuming. Allopathic (“conventional”) doctors, while energetically engaged in research into this condition, can offer no cure for Callum. There may be some hope even if only for a better quality of life in alternative routes and therapies. These, of course, are not covered by health insurance. Its an incredible obstacle for a household where the only wage-earner is a self-employed indie recording engineer with single-payer insurance.

Callum’s father J. Robbins, a musician and producer, has been a huge influence on Motion City Soundtrack over the years. He has produced, engineered, and performed on some of their favorite records. In addition, he has fronted some of their favorite bands (Jawbox, Burning Airlines, and Channels – in which he shares vocal duties with Janet) and written some of their favorite songs.

If you can, please grab a shirt or poster today and help Callum and the Robbins family deal with what will certainly be some large medical costs in the coming months and years, the band would greatly appreciate it. The shirts are printed on 100% cotton, American Apparel t-shirts. For more information please visit www.motioncitysoundtrack.com. There are links to read more about Spinal Muscular Atrophy and links to make donations. You can donate using PayPal or you can send checks. All of the info is there.

12.18.06 HOT TOPIC PRESENTS THE 2007 SUB CITY TAKE ACTION TOUR – TICKETS ON SALE NOW!
December 18, 2006 Tickets for the 2007 Sub City Take Action! Tour, the celebrated nationwide, charity tour showcasing the premier talents in punk music and alternative music, went on sale the weekend of December 16 through Ticketmaster and Takeactiontour.com. The tour will kick off February 1, 2007, in Washington, DC and run for seven weeks in 40 states. The Take Action! Tour brings the issues of suicide and depression to the front page and benefits the Youth America Hotline! 1-877-YOUTHLINE (968-8454).

Headlining the sixth annual Take Action! Tour this year is The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, performing with Emery, Scary Kids Scaring Kids, A Static Lullaby and Kaddisfly. The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus debut album, Dont You Fake It, has been certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The album was released just 4 months ago and entered the Billboard Top 200 national album sales chart at #25, they currently have the #6 song in the country at Alternative Radio with “Face Down,” which tackles the tough topic of domestic violence.

This years ticket pre-sale was the most successful in the tours history making it very important for fans to act quickly on the fast selling tickets.

Take Action, founded by Hopeless & Sub City Records, aims to create a better world, one voice and one action at a time. By working with various non-profit organizations, Take Action strives to educate people about the positive difference that can be made by each of us in our community through activism and charitable work. Hopeless/Sub City Records founder Louis Posen talks about why the tour is important. Suicide kills 13 people every day between the ages of 12 and 24. We hope that together, we will be able to significantly lower that number by letting people know there are resources available and people who care. I can only imagine what wonderful things those 13 people per day could bring to the world if they only had the chance.”

Hopeless & Sub City Records are happy to once again donate 10% of all 2007 Take Action! Tour ticket sales and 5% of the retail price for each Take Action! Volume 6 compilation CD sold to the Youth America Hotline! 1-877-YOUTHLINE (968-8454). The benefiting charity was founded by the Kristin Brooks Hope Center to help young people in crisis through peer-to-peer counseling and educating young people about mental health issues. Take Action raised over $100,000 last year for the Youth America Hotline! Since the start of the tour in 2001, Take Action! has raised over $350,000 for the Kristin Brooks Hope Center and the awareness built has helped increase government funding for suicide prevention from $0 to $16 million.

Hot Topic, the music lifestyle mall retailer (hottopic.com), is once again the title sponsor of the tour. Hot Topic is a natural fit, as they demonstrate a passion for music in everything they do. Since the inception of Take Action in 1999, Hot Topic has been an enthusiastic supporter of the Take Action cause, helping to save countless lives and educate millions of people to make a difference. Additional 2007 Take Action! 12.18.06 GOOD MORNING REVIVAL!
For the upcoming single off their new album GOOD MORNING REVIVAL, now set for release March 20 on Epic/Daylight, rockers GOOD CHARLOTTE–JOEL MADDEN (vocals), BENJI MADDEN (guitar), BILLY MARTIN (guitar) and PAUL THOMAS (bass)–brought longtime friends and fellow musicians M. Shadows and Synyster Gates (of Avenged Sevenfold) into the mix to collaborate on the albums first single The River. Look for the song–an impassioned rocker about sin and redemption that traverses the dark side of Los Angeles–to arrive at radio in January.

The River, which marks the first time GOOD CHARLOTTE has officially collaborated with another artist on an album, seemed to be a natural fit for both bands. Weve been friends with Avenged for a longtime. This wasnt planned, but it ended up working out, JOEL explains. We were sitting around listening to some new music and they liked that song so we asked them to jump on. It felt right and sounded really cool. Aside from being friends of ours, were also fans of their music and since this is our first collaboration, we couldnt be happier that theyre a part of our record.

M. Shadows, who provides some vocals on the song, explains, Were always down to try something new. Our new album will feature influences and collaborations with artists whose music is totally different than ours, so playing on The River seemed totally natural. The fact that we get to perform with our friends makes it that much cooler. How many friends get to do something like this?

For the video, GOOD CHARLOTTE joined forces again with director Marc Webb (Good Charlottes Festival Song, A.F.I.s Love Like Winter, My Chemical Romances Helena) and shot on location in Los Angeles last week. The video–which includes an appearance from M. Shadows and Synyster Gates–features GOOD CHARLOTTE performing alongside the concrete L.A. river bank that runs through the city, contrasted with classic images of the beauty and history of Los Angeles.

Although sonically different than their previous efforts, GOOD CHARLOTTE reunited with producer Don Gilmore for their fourth studio album GOOD MORNING REVIVAL. Gilmore also produced the bands self-titled debut in 2000, in addition to working with such acts as Pearl Jam, Linkin Park and Avril Lavigne. GOOD MORNING REVIVAL marks the follow-up to 2004s platinum-selling Chronicles Of Life And Death, which is part of a body of work that has resulted in worldwide album sales exceeding nine million copies.

Look for GOOD CHARLOTTE to launch a world tour after the albums release. For the latest news on the band, check out www.goodcharlotte.com and www.myspace.com/goodcharlotte.

Avenged Sevenfolds City of Evil was one of this years most acclaimed albums, described by Kerrang! as “technically dazzling and fiendishly inventive and wholly distinct from everything else (KKKKK). With sales of over a million worldwide, Avenged Sevenfold was named MTVs Best New Artist at the 2006 Video Music Awards. The band is currently in the studio working on their highly anticipated follow-up to City of Evil, due out mid 2007.
