Vancouver, BC’s Carpenter will embark on a six-week tour through Canada and the United States in support of its newest record, Sea To Sky.
The quartet’s sophomore full-length was released digitally and on CD in Canada last week (09/21) by Goldstock Records, a new imprint created by Carpenter front man Daniel Sioui and Stu McKillop (Daggermouth, In Bear Country). To grab a copy, go here or you can pick one up from the band on tour.
Carpenter recently joined the esteemed roster of Gainesville punk label Paper + Plastick, which will be releasing the album digitally and on 12″ vinyl. The LP will be officially out on October 26th (pre-orders up soon!) while digital should be available at iTunes and other online retailers within the next couple of weeks.
You can stream the first two tracks on Sea To Sky, “Mean Things” and “Common Law,” here.
Formed in 2005 from the ashes of some of Vancouver’s biggest post-punk bands (All State Champion, By A Thread, Daggermouth), Carpenter’s rock n roll assault sprung from singer Daniel Sioui’s obsession with the 1982 John Cougar classic American Fool. Like Mellencamp, Sioui took aim at writing material that was lasting, catchy and heartfelt whilst retaining the intensity and DIY ethics of the members’ punk and hardcore roots.
As the follow-up to the outfit’s acclaimed debut, Law Of The Land, Sea To Sky was recorded with engineer Stu McKillop at Rain City Recorders (Broadway Calls, Living with Lions) and features 10 tracks that embrace its musical roots. Hints of 90s emo and post punk seep into the band’s established rock n roll sound. It’s an evolution that keeps its members inspired to forge ahead and work tirelessly to spread the word of Carpenter.
