04.05.07 BURY YOUR DEAD CHOOSES NEW SINGER,
HEADLINES DONT CALL IT A COMEBACK TOUR !
Victory Records metalcore titans Bury Your Dead have found a new singer to lead them on their upcoming six-week headlining tour of America, aptly titled the Dont Call It A Comeback Tour. Coming aboard is one of the most popular singers ever to come out of Australias hardcore scene – Michael Crafter. Previously, Crafter fronted Australian metal band I Killed The Prom Queen, as well as mosh-core group Carpathian. Crafter has also staged his own hardcore and metal fest Down Under, called Prepare To Burn, a.k.a. Crafterfest.

“After weeks of practice and hanging out, we have decided that Crafter is now our new front man”, states drummer Mark Castillo. “He’s an amazing dude and put forth a ton of effort to show us he was serious about being apart of BYD. Let the good times roll.”

Good times will roll out in full force during BYDs imminent headlining tour, which embarks on April 20 in Rochester, NY, and covers 45 dates before ending June 3 in Chicopee, MA. Joining them on the Dont Call It A Comeback Tour will be Suicide Silence, Stick To Your Guns and Since The Flood.TOUR DATES

We are off in less then a month to start preproduction with Devin and we couldn’t be more stoked with how the songs are coming out. Think more melodic, more extreme, more insane, more circle pit. Volume 6 continues Hopeless/Sub Citys belief in giving fans as much value as possible for the lowest price possible. The added DVD is a new feature this year and the 18 amazing videos included are very rarely, if ever, available to fans at this level of quality. Also new this year is updated and expanded enhanced CD content from the Kristin Brooks Hope Center, including a depression self help screening tool and the full text of the book Suicide the Forever Decision, For those Thinking about Suicide and for Those who Know, Love and Counsel Them, by Paul Quinnett, Ph.D.

The compilation is released in conjunction with the 2007 Take Action! Tour which begins February 1st in Washington DC. Headlining the sixth annual Take Action! Tour this year is The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, performing with Emery, Scary Kids Scaring Kids, A Static Lullaby and Kaddisfly. Tickets and more information can be found at www.takeactiontour.com.

Sub City Records is the charity component of Southern California independent label Hopeless Records. All Sub City projects benefit various charitable organizations that are working to make the world a better place to live. With 35 releases as well as tours and other projects since 1999, Sub City Records and their artists have raised over $800,000 for charity and will pass the 1 million dollar donation mark this year.

The brand Take Action! was formed by Hopeless & Sub City Records to take the charitable mission to the road through touring and outreach with the goal of creating a better world, one voice and one action at a time. By working with various non-profit organizations, Take Action strives to educate people about the positive difference that can be made by each of us in our community through activism and charitable work.

The benefiting charity for both the compilation CD and the Take Action! Tour is the Youth American Hotline, 1-877-YOUTHLINE (968-8454), a peer-to-peer counseling center that helps young adults in crisis and educates them on mental health issues. Founded by the Kristin Brooks Hope Center (KBHC), teens and young people who are looking for peer support dial 1-877-YOUTHLINE and are seamlessly connected to an available counselor. The network ensures that the people who need help will never get a busy signal and there will always be someone there waiting to talk to them. Reese Butler founded KBHC in 1998 after his wife Kristins suicide, using her life insurance to found an organization that presents the option to live for those in emotional pain. Since then, the KBHC has received a federal grant to expand the network and to date has answered over two million calls.

01.11.07 ANBERLIN TO RELEASE THIRD ALBUM ‘CITIES’ – FEBRUARY 20!
Due out February 20 on Tooth and Nail, CITIES –the new album by ANBERLIN–marks the groups third offering and follow-up to their breakthrough album Never Take Friendship Personal (2005), which went on to sell over 140,000 copies. As a preview to the album release, the new song Godspeed as well as the B-side Haunting are now available on Itunes as exclusive tracks.

ANBERLIN will kick off a headlining U.S. tour February 21 in Charlotte, NC. The coast-to-coast trek will hit New Yorks Bowery Ballroom February 27 and the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles March 13 (see itinerary below with more dates to be announced soon). Bayside, Meg & Dia and Jonezetta will provide support for the winter trek.

Having watched their career rise while touring with everyone from Fall Out Boy and My Chemical Romance to Yellowcard and Hawthorne Heights, the Winter Haven, Florida-reared quintet doesnt just build on the energy and determination of recent singles like Paperthin Hymn, Feelgood Drag, and A Day Late. Instead, ANBERLIN expands its grasp of what a rock record can be with CITIES. With the sprawling, epic Fin and the gorgeous, lighter-ready The Unwinding Cable Car, the group vastly widens its musical boundaries.

For CITIES, ANBERLIN–STEPHEN CHRISTIAN (vocals), JOSEPH MILLIGAN (guitars), DEON REXROAT (bass), NATHAN STRAYER (guitar) and NATHAN YOUNG (drums)–reunited with producer Aaron Sprinkle (Eisley, MxPx, Pedro The Lion) and recorded the album at Sprinkles Seattle-based Compound facility, with drums captured at the infamous London Bridge studio (where classic albums by Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, Temple of The Dog and Blind Melon were realized).

Whether its the huge-sounding, memorable roar of Reclusion or the bright, infectious Adelaide, the writing team of frontman STEPHEN CHRISTIAN and guitarist JOSEPH MILLIGAN drives ANBERLIN. Anberlin has always had really good songs, says STEPHEN of the groups past output. Still, I think this is the first time weve got a really great album. MILLIGAN adds, Id like to think we have more in us and even broader spaces to cover in the future, but this is our proudest moment. Id just like it to have it find its way into the hands of as many people as possible. Not for glory, but because were so proud of it.

The full track listing for CITIES is as follows:
    Intro
    Godspeed
    Adelaide
    A Whisper and a Clamor
    The Unwinding Cable Car
There is No Mathematics to Love and Loss
    Hello Alone
    Reclusion
    Alexithymia
    Inevitable
    Dismantle Repair
    Fin

Expect ANBERLIN to announce plans for the first single, video and world tour in 2007.

    01.09.07 AIDEN – CHAOS & CONVINCTION!
After a hectic year which saw the band crisscrossing the globe, performing to sold-out crowds and grabbing several awards, Seattle horror-punksters, Aiden are set to accomplish even more in 2007with Conviction, which will be the title of their upcoming full-length effort on Victory Records.

The band begins pre-production on their eagerly anticipated release January 15, according to leading WiL Francis, 14 songs have already been written. I’ve never been more excited about new songs, he declares. I’ve never written songs like this, mainly because I was scared that it wasn’t “punk” enough. But I woke up one day and asked myself what is punk? And the answer I came up with was that punk rock is a state of mind, not a sound on a record. Punk is about being true to yourself and doing what you love and saying f-you to anyone who tries to bring you down.

So this record has some things on it that are a lot different than what I’m used to. I’m no longer scared what people will think of me or what they might say. A good tune is a good tune, and that this is going to be our biggest and most ambitious record to date.

Aiden will remain ambitious out of the studio as well. As soon as they finish recording, they head out on the Taste of Chaos North American tour for 31 dates, when fly back out to England for a quick British jaunt with Lostprophets. But thats almost taking it easy compared to their itinerary in 2006:

It started with the Kerrang 25 Year Anniversary Tour in England with Bullet For My Valentine; they then did their first tour of Germany, before returning home to the States to play on 30 Seconds to Mars national tour. Then back to the Europe for a bevy of summer festivals. Back again to the States for a tour with H.I.M. The group returned to Europe for another festival and to pick up a Best Newcomer award from Metal Hammer.

By this time it was summer, and Aiden returned to Americas to perform on every date on the Warped tour. Back yet again to England for more huge music festivals and to win Best International Newcomer at the Kerrang! Awards. They even stuck around to headline their own UK and Europe tour, selling out everywhere months in advance. They flew back to the States for still another national tour, this time with Silverstein. After that, they finished off the year playing five shows in four days in Australia.

Of course, Aiden will return to the major summer tour circuit this summer, and you can expect them to perform their new music with total and utter conviction. When people ask me what Conviction means and is all about, I’m going to say its about believing in yourself and the people around you, Francis states. Its about living your life as you want it to be livedthats Conviction!

You can see Aiden on the following dates of the Taste of Chaos tour

“If you have not heard by now, we are sorry to say that Mat Bruso will no longer be singing for Bury Your Dead. He has decided that he has come to a point in his life where he must focus on more important things like going back to school to become a teacher and his upcoming marriage. The four remaining members will be pushing on with the band and will be looking for a new singer over the next few months. We have never had this much time off so we are just trying to find something to do with ourselves while we are home. We are bummed and apologize for having to cancel our European run with Killswitch Engage and The Haunted. We hope you all understand.

If you are about serious rock shows , tomfoolery and amps that go to 11 , keep your eyes and ears open for your opportunity to try out within the next few weeks , we will be posting how to do that on our websites ASAP.

    Thanks, Slim”

    DECEMBER 2006 PRESS RELEASES

12.20.06 Motion City Soundtrack Make Limited Edition Christmas Shirt for Charity,
All Proceeds to Go to Callum Robbins
Motion City Soundtrack have made a limited edition Christmas shirt for charity with all proceeds going to Callum Robbins, son of J. and Janet Robbins. Callum is approaching his first birthday and was recently diagnosed with Type 1 Spinal Muscular Atrophy. This is a brutal disease for which there is no cure. The SMA Type 1 infant never attains the ability to sit independently and less than 20% of these children survive 4 years, and then only with indwelling tracheostomy tubes, occupational therapy and life in a wheelchair. Virtually all die from respiratory complications.

J., Janet and Cal live with this reality every day and the path before them is extremely long and arduous, not to mention expensive and consuming. Allopathic (“conventional”) doctors, while energetically engaged in research into this condition, can offer no cure for Callum. There may be some hope even if only for a better quality of life in alternative routes and therapies. These, of course, are not covered by health insurance. Its an incredible obstacle for a household where the only wage-earner is a self-employed indie recording engineer with single-payer insurance.

Callum’s father J. Robbins, a musician and producer, has been a huge influence on Motion City Soundtrack over the years. He has produced, engineered, and performed on some of their favorite records. In addition, he has fronted some of their favorite bands (Jawbox, Burning Airlines, and Channels – in which he shares vocal duties with Janet) and written some of their favorite songs.

If you can, please grab a shirt or poster today and help Callum and the Robbins family deal with what will certainly be some large medical costs in the coming months and years, the band would greatly appreciate it. The shirts are printed on 100% cotton, American Apparel t-shirts. For more information please visit www.motioncitysoundtrack.com. There are links to read more about Spinal Muscular Atrophy and links to make donations. You can donate using PayPal or you can send checks. All of the info is there.

12.18.06 HOT TOPIC PRESENTS THE 2007 SUB CITY TAKE ACTION TOUR – TICKETS ON SALE NOW!
December 18, 2006 Tickets for the 2007 Sub City Take Action! Tour, the celebrated nationwide, charity tour showcasing the premier talents in punk music and alternative music, went on sale the weekend of December 16 through Ticketmaster and Takeactiontour.com. The tour will kick off February 1, 2007, in Washington, DC and run for seven weeks in 40 states. The Take Action! Tour brings the issues of suicide and depression to the front page and benefits the Youth America Hotline! 1-877-YOUTHLINE (968-8454).

Headlining the sixth annual Take Action! Tour this year is The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, performing with Emery, Scary Kids Scaring Kids, A Static Lullaby and Kaddisfly. The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus debut album, Dont You Fake It, has been certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The album was released just 4 months ago and entered the Billboard Top 200 national album sales chart at #25, they currently have the #6 song in the country at Alternative Radio with “Face Down,” which tackles the tough topic of domestic violence.

This years ticket pre-sale was the most successful in the tours history making it very important for fans to act quickly on the fast selling tickets.

Take Action, founded by Hopeless & Sub City Records, aims to create a better world, one voice and one action at a time. By working with various non-profit organizations, Take Action strives to educate people about the positive difference that can be made by each of us in our community through activism and charitable work. Hopeless/Sub City Records founder Louis Posen talks about why the tour is important. Suicide kills 13 people every day between the ages of 12 and 24. We hope that together, we will be able to significantly lower that number by letting people know there are resources available and people who care. I can only imagine what wonderful things those 13 people per day could bring to the world if they only had the chance.”

Hopeless & Sub City Records are happy to once again donate 10% of all 2007 Take Action! Tour ticket sales and 5% of the retail price for each Take Action! Volume 6 compilation CD sold to the Youth America Hotline! 1-877-YOUTHLINE (968-8454). The benefiting charity was founded by the Kristin Brooks Hope Center to help young people in crisis through peer-to-peer counseling and educating young people about mental health issues. Take Action raised over $100,000 last year for the Youth America Hotline! Since the start of the tour in 2001, Take Action! has raised over $350,000 for the Kristin Brooks Hope Center and the awareness built has helped increase government funding for suicide prevention from $0 to $16 million.

Hot Topic, the music lifestyle mall retailer (hottopic.com), is once again the title sponsor of the tour. Hot Topic is a natural fit, as they demonstrate a passion for music in everything they do. Since the inception of Take Action in 1999, Hot Topic has been an enthusiastic supporter of the Take Action cause, helping to save countless lives and educate millions of people to make a difference. 12.18.06 GOOD MORNING REVIVAL!
For the upcoming single off their new album GOOD MORNING REVIVAL, now set for release March 20 on Epic/Daylight, rockers GOOD CHARLOTTE–JOEL MADDEN (vocals), BENJI MADDEN (guitar), BILLY MARTIN (guitar) and PAUL THOMAS (bass)–brought longtime friends and fellow musicians M. Shadows and Synyster Gates (of Avenged Sevenfold) into the mix to collaborate on the albums first single The River. Look for the song–an impassioned rocker about sin and redemption that traverses the dark side of Los Angeles–to arrive at radio in January.

The River, which marks the first time GOOD CHARLOTTE has officially collaborated with another artist on an album, seemed to be a natural fit for both bands. Weve been friends with Avenged for a longtime. This wasnt planned, but it ended up working out, JOEL explains. We were sitting around listening to some new music and they liked that song so we asked them to jump on. It felt right and sounded really cool. Aside from being friends of ours, were also fans of their music and since this is our first collaboration, we couldnt be happier that theyre a part of our record.

    M. Shadows, who provides some vocals on the song, explains, Were always down to try something new. Our new album will feature influences and collaborations with artists whose music is totally different than ours, so playing on The River seemed totally natural. The fact that we get to perform with our friends makes it that much cooler. How many friends get to do something like this?

For the video, GOOD CHARLOTTE joined forces again with director Marc Webb (Good Charlottes Festival Song, A.F.I.s Love Like Winter, My Chemical Romances Helena) and shot on location in Los Angeles last week. The video–which includes an appearance from M. Shadows and Synyster Gates–features GOOD CHARLOTTE performing alongside the concrete L.A. river bank that runs through the city, contrasted with classic images of the beauty and history of Los Angeles.

Although sonically different than their previous efforts, GOOD CHARLOTTE reunited with producer Don Gilmore for their fourth studio album GOOD MORNING REVIVAL. Gilmore also produced the bands self-titled debut in 2000, in addition to working with such acts as Pearl Jam, Linkin Park and Avril Lavigne. GOOD MORNING REVIVAL marks the follow-up to 2004s platinum-selling Chronicles Of Life And Death, which is part of a body of work that has resulted in worldwide album sales exceeding nine million copies.

Look for GOOD CHARLOTTE to launch a world tour after the albums release. For the latest news on the band, check out www.goodcharlotte.com and www.myspace.com/goodcharlotte.

Avenged Sevenfolds City of Evil was one of this years most acclaimed albums, described by Kerrang! as “technically dazzling and fiendishly inventive and wholly distinct from everything else (KKKKK). With sales of over a million worldwide, Avenged Sevenfold was named MTVs Best New Artist at the 2006 Video Music Awards. The band is currently in the studio working on their highly anticipated follow-up to City of Evil, due out mid 2007.

10.20.06 Soldiers Signs to Eulogy Recordings!
SOLDIERS is not only a product of its five members, but the Long Island Hardcore scene as a whole. Forged from the desire to express opinions and thoughts in a non-traditional way, SOLDIERS is a band made up of experienced, hard-working kids who have toiled on the road away from their island home for many years. SOLDIERS represents a new Long Island sound; a reaction to all that has come before and the need to face new challenges.
In April of 2006, THIS IS HELL bandmates Rick Jimenez and Dan Bourke, eager to start a new project, just needed to recruit the right members to complete the SOLDIERS regiment. Rick and guitarist Chris Mazella were both members of SUBTERFUGE from 1996-2003; during those years Chris was the frontman and Rick held down duties on the drums. Playing in that band helped shape both a social and musical consciousness for both Long Island natives, but the confines of the drum kit would not allow Rick to express himself fully. After enlisting current LAST CONVICTION guitar-player Brian Audley, bassist Andrew Jones of the now-defunct Long Island workhorse THE BACKUP PLAN joined the camp. SOLDIERS was now ready to take action.
The new Long Island unit got right down to business after forming in April 2006, recording and self-releasing their debut The Tombstone EP in May. After playing a handful of shows, SOLDIERS attracted Five Point Records with their brutal and honest brand of hardcore. Five Point re-released The Tombstone EP in August, and the band hit the road for a Northeastern tour shortly afterward.
The members that comprise SOLDIERS have been on the front lines for years, and now working together they are poised and ready to fight for what they believe in; the music, their scene, and themselvesprepare for war!

10.11.06 Equal Vision to release Coheed and Cambria side project The Prize Fighter Inferno!
Claudio Sanchez, front man and visionary of prog rockers Coheed and Cambria, has completed his first solo album under the name The Prize Fighter Inferno.
The 12-song album, entitled “My Brother’s Blood Machine,” will be released this Halloween (Tuesday, October 31st) on upstate New York indie label Equal Vision Records. Original home to Coheed and Cambria albums “The Second Stage Turbine Blade” (2002), and “In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3” (2003), Equal Vision entered into a partnership with major label Columbia Records to release Coheed and Cambria’s epic third full-length album, “Good Apollo, I’m Burning Star IV: Volume I: From Fear Through The Eyes of Madness” in the fall of 2005. In total, Coheed and Cambria have sold well over 1 million albums in their five year career.
“My Brother’s Blood Machine” further develops and expands the concepts established in the Coheed and Cambria albums with such recurring themes as the McCloud Family and references to its missing children. The primary difference is that this album is being told from the point of view of a character known as “The Prize Fighter Inferno” a.k.a. Jesse from the story of Coheed and Cambria.
The Prize Fighter Inferno – “My Brother’s Blood Machine” Track List:
1 – The Going Price for Home
2 – The Fight of Moses Early & Sir Arthur McCloud
3 – Our Darling Daughter You Are, Little Cecilia Marie
    4 – A Death in the Family

09.10.06 VMAs HONOR SHANE DRAKES PANIC! VIDEO OF THE YEAR
Shane Drake was honored when the Panic! At The Disco video he directed, I Write Sins, Not Tragedies, was named the Video of the Year at MTVs Video Music Awards September 1. It’s a pretty overwhelming experience, he stated. This just isn’t the type of award you think is attainable. Then when you get it, it seems as though your whole world gets turned upside down. I hope that with every video I do, I am able to bring a level of originality and emotion that both fits with the band and resonates with the hearts and souls of the viewing public.I love my job, and am grateful to have the opportunity to work with such amazing people!
The next chance music fans will get to see Drakes work will be the video for the song Single & Loving It, by the New York City hardcore band Endwell. The track is off of Endwells debut album, Homeland Insecurity, which will be released October 31 on Victory Records, the national top-selling independent rock label. Drake just finished shooting the bands live performance scenes, shot outdoors against the Big Apple skyline. Working with Endwell was a total blast! Drake says. I love bands that are willing to take creative risks and have a passion for what they do.
Endwell will be bringing their passion and musical fury live to clubs from Texas and Michigan to Florida and their hometown from now until the end of October. Heres where you can catch them:

08.15.06 STREET DOGS BECOME ROAD DOGS!
Having put the finishing touches on their third album, Fading American Dream, STREET DOGS are currently on the road with legendary Orange County punk-rockers The Adolescents. The tour winds down in Tempe, AZ on August 20th. But theres no rest for these road-tested veterans, as the Boston band gets back in the van again in mid-October as direct support to seminal punk rockers Bouncing Souls, an Old School style tour that will take them straight into the New Year.
After two months in the studio with producer Ted Hutt (Flogging Molly, Bouncing Souls) the band, whose ranks include former members of Dropkick Murphys and Mighty Mighty Bosstones, is bringing a renewed fire and energy to their live show as they test out tracks from their latest effort.
Fading American Dream is a collection of 13 songs, 2 years in the making, STREET DOGS vocalist Mike McColgan explains. The record is full of blood, sweat, tears, raw emotion, frustration and joy. Our producer, Ted Hutt, pushed and challenged us to the peak of our abilities. The end result is a release reflecting all of the above as well as our collective influences, some past band experiences, and our live performances.”
The new album stays true to STREET DOGS own particular brand of politically-charged punk rock, delivering sobering messages via music that is drunk on hooks. The album and title track, Fading American Dream, is about common people, songs about youth and the predicament of being left behind and being brought up on a war culture reflects McColgan, songs that talk about the declining rights for workers, like Common People not without a purpose, not without a fight .
Fading American Dream hits streets October 10th on the bands own imprint Brass Tacks Records (distributed through DRT Entertainment) and features guest appearances by James Fearnley (The Pogues) and Matt Hensley (Flogging Molly).
Catch STREET DOGS on Bouncing Souls Gold Tour this Fall and be sure to visit the official tour website for the latest tour updates & schedule. The band is currently on the road with The Adolescents.

08.15.06 GLORY OF THIS VOCALIST STEPS ASIDE!
James Harrah, vocalist of Florida-based melodic hardcore band GLORY OF THIS (Indianola Records), has stepped aside from the band for personal reasons.
GLORY OF THIS will remain a band, and their tour schedule will continue uninterrupted, with the band filling in for its vocal vacancy, until a replacement is found. Harrah will continue to work for the band behind the scenes. As stated in Harrah’s MySpace blog, the move might not even be permanent.
The band will continue to support Harrah’s vision, promoting their recent album, THE LOVER, THE LIAR, THE RUSE, which was released July 11 on Indianola Records.
Message to GLORY OF THIS fans from vocalist James Harrah:
    “Alright… Where to begin.
I couldn’t begin to emphasize what this band has/will always mean to me. Let me start by explaining that my bow away from this is in NO way personal and there is no negativity between myself and the rest of the guys. They couldn’t have seen it coming because not even I knew.
There are always reasons why people think of being home and not on the road. Friends, family, relationships, money, health, etc. I’ve experienced them all 10 fold and yet none of them ever held me back from doing what I STILL believe is my dream and ambition. Ultimately there was something that came up in my family that has led me to make this life-altering decision.
I am broken down on a multitude of levels. There is the situation I left my brothers in GOT with, the feeling I have and had when I had to tell them, the feeling I have when I wake up now, and inevitably the response from all of you. Its something that haunts me and will tear away at me but its something that I just had to do. I haven’t had a lot of things in my life and my family is one of those few.
Cory and I being the only original members that have been in this band since its conception in Sept 2003. We’ve gone through trying and testing times but still managed to make it as far as we have. Grant came into the band around June 2004 and has ever since been like a brother to me. I’ve lived with him and we have fed off each other for over 2 years. Chino and David are my companions who came into Glory of This when we really needed them. They had been acquaintances for times before but since their introduction to Glory of This, they have been nothing short of incredible people and musicians. These are still my friends and I am losing them along with the band.
I hope there is a level of understanding from the best people on this planet ever… our fans. You have all fueled my personal initiative and drive to be in this band. I have met some incredible people during my time in this amazing project and will hold on to all of those dreams for eternity.
I still continue to work with Glory of This seeing that I have always sort of micro-managed the band while fronting it and now I will continue to do so from home. These guys are doing ME a favor and carrying out my dream and helping spread the music I helped create. Its the least I can do. I want this thing to ride out to the highest point imaginable.
So alas, this is where we are left. Whimpering, sullen, and pitiful against a wall outside writing this message while my band-mates are preparing to promote a record they believe in. I wish them the best of luck and ask that you all come out and support the new record. There will be LOTS of tour dates country-wide coming about so keep up to date, spread the word, and come to a show and get a CD and a shirt. Tell your friends. Make this the beginning again.
    James
P.S. It may not be permanent. Thanks GOT for being understanding. I love you guys.”

    07.08.06 SIGN MY BAND
Takeover Records third Sign My Band contest is already in full effect, but this time around a new twist has been added to the competition: Theres no guarantee one band will be offered a record deal from the label. I want to use the contest more as platform to showcase ten amazing unsigned bands and help jump-start their careers, said Takeover Records owner Ben Harper. I may or may not sign one of them.
After seeing previous Sign My Band contest finalists picked up by labels like Virgin (The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus), Nitro (Hit The Switch), SideCho (Stars of Track and Field) and Outlook (Daphne Loves Derby), it became apparent that the contest had some clout. Takeover will be recommending all finalists in the contest to other labels were affiliated with, Harper said. Though its uncertain if a record deal will be offered up, one song from each of the ten finalists chosen will be featured on an up-and-coming Takeover Records compilation CD, and the winner of the contest will get to tour the U.S. with bands on the labels roster in 2007.
Demo submissions for the Sign My Band contest are being accepted all summer at the Takeover Records tent on any stop of the Vans Warped Tour, and the ten finalists will be selected by Takeover staffers. The finalists can expect to be promoted on PureVolume.com and receive prizes from Ambiguous Clothing, The Wedge Studios and Wonka Candy, as well as have one of their songs on the compilation to be released by Takeover. Oh, and a full recommendation by Takeover Records is also part of the deal.

07.08.06 MUCH THE SAME POSTS NEW SONG!
Getting ready for the release of their sophomore album, Survive, on August 29th, Much The Same have posted a new song, “Skeletons” on their myspace page for fans to hear.
“Skeletons is a song about admitting your past mistakes and being able to move on and away from them for the sake of a better future for yourself,” says bandleader Gunner McGrath.
Alongside their Nitro Records labelmates A Wilhelm Scream, No Trigger and Crime In Stereo, Much The Same are doing everything they can to bring back substance over style to the underground. Produced by Cameron Webb, Survive is a return to the fast melodic punk sound of the 90’s without sounding nostalgic or derivative. Each of the band members shared songwriting responsibility making Survive a reflection of the band as a whole.
The band’s debut album, Quitters Never Win, was released on A-F records in 2003 and the band has played with the likes of Bad Religion, Rise Against, Thrice, Strike Anywhere, Anti-Flag, and A Wilhelm Scream.

    06.12.06 Lucky Boys Confusion!
Lucky Boys Confusion get set to release the How To Get Out Alive (EP) June 20tth, 2006 on their own Townstyle Records imprint in conjunction with Reincarnate (Sony/BMG). The EP is the first official release of new music from the band since they released their second major label album Commitment on the now defunct Elektra Records. Commitment featured the hit single Hey Driver which not only garnered national radio play on the modern rock and pop formats, but also was featured in various movies and video games, and had the band performing live on national TVs The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn.

Despite the demise of Elektra, the Chicago natives continued the DIY ethic of touring for months on end over the last two years, headlining clubs across the U.S. During breaks, Lucky Boys Confusion wrote new songs including The Struggle (Getting Out Alive) and Cigarettes, which will appear on the new EPHow To Get Out Alive.

Lucky Boys Confusion will celebrate the release of the new EP with a Five Night Stand, small club performance in their hometown of Chicago June 20 – June 24 at the Beat Kitchen. Each night will feature something different musically spanning the bands career. Tickets for these shows are now on sale.

The band will follow these shows with two acoustic instore performances and signings, one Borders in Champaign IL on Sunday, June 25, and the second at Tower Records in Bloomingdale IL on Tuesday, June 27. Lucky Boys Confusion then hit the road on a nationwide tour supporting Jive recording artists Bowling for Soup June 28th through August 29th.

Look for Lucky Boys Confusion to headline this fall before heading back into the studio to finish their next full-length album with a release date for Spring 2007.
