MIDNIGHT MASSES ABOUT TO RELEASE DEBUT EP

Midnight Masses is an ever-expanding collective of mostly Brooklyn-based artists, led and formed by Autry Fulbright in the wake of his father’s untimely death in 2008. On any given night the band could be a lean ensemble of its core members or an imposing 14-piece collection of string players, organists, and guests pulled from any number of Brooklyn’s finest bands – including Trail of Dead’s Kevin Allen, Jason Reece and Conrad Keely, TV on the Radio’s Gerard Smith and Jaleel Bunton, the bewitching Katie Eastburn, Peter Hale of Here We Go Magic, and more. Midnight Masses is preparing to gather once again for Rapture Ready, I Gazed At The Body, their debut EP, set for release on November 10th via Collect Records.

…AND YOU WILL KNOW US BY THE TRAIL OF DEAD sign to Justice Records

…And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead sign to Justice Records (distributed via Fontana/Universal for all territories outside of Europe) and announce the launch of their Richter Scale Records imprint. The Justice Records/Richter Scale Records partnership will yield the band’s sixth full-length record (as yet untitled), due out January ’09.  Recorded in Austin, TX, the band tapped the producing talents of longtime friends Mike McCarthy (Spoon, Patty Griffin) and Chris “Frenchie” Smith (Sixteen Deluxe, Smog) for sessions at The Mob House and The Bubble, respectively.  Mixed by Chris Coady (TV on the Radio, Yeah Yeah Yeahs), the release promises to push Trail of Dead’s already pioneering and explosive sound further by focusing on creating a more anthemic record with homage’s to artists both obscure and well-known.

Formed in late 1994 by singers/guitarists/drummers Conrad Keely and Jason Reece, Trail of Dead has evolved into a six piece collective whose line-up is rounded out by guitarist/singer and longtime bandmate Kevin Allen, pianist/singer Clay Morris and drummer/singer Aaron Ford and bass/singer Jay Phillips from Nashville’s Forget Cassettes. Since their self-titled debut album (1998 / Trance Syndicate) and its successor Madonna (1999 / Merge Records), …And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead have been among America’s most important and influential acts. They’ve built a massive cult following for their notorious live shows and have earned critical acclaim for their innovative and passionate music.

After releasing three albums on Interscope – Source, Tags and Codes (2002), Worlds Apart (2005) and So Divided (2006) – the band is excited about returning to their indie rock roots with the Justice Records/Richter Scale Records partnering. Keely hopes the band’s imprint will “allow them to seek the creative freedom envisioned by the founding fathers of our great nation, immune from the tyranny of the corporate ogre.”
