ANTHONY RANERI (BAYSIDE) RELEASES NEW DEMO

While BAYSIDE’s vocalist/guitarist Anthony Raneri is looking forward to recording the follow-up to 2008’s SHUDDER, he’s not sitting idly. Always bustling with creativity, he has unleashed a brand new demo, “The Ballad of Bill the Saint”, on his personal MySpace page (www.myspace.com/anthonyraneri).

Anthony will be embarking solo on the 2010 Edition of the WHERE’S THE BAND? Tour, which also includes solo acoustic performances by Dustin Kensrue (Thrice), Matt Pryor (The Get Up Kids, The New Amsterdams), and Chris Conley (Saves The Day, Two Tongues). The inaugural tour that kicked off in January 2009 included ten dates in the Midwest, all of which sold out. The four singers sat in during each other’s sets, creating a unique and special event for fans.

Jan 08 – San Diego, CA @ House of Blues

THE WONDER YEARS – PRE-ORDER NEW ALBUM!

The Upsides, the long-awaited, highly anticipated sophomore full-length from Philly’s very own pop punk juggernauts, The Wonder Years, is now available for pre-order. Cruise on over to No Sleep Records to secure your very own copy of this amazing record, which will see an official January 26, 2010 release date.

As a special pre-order bonus, No Sleep is offering an limited-edition 7-inch featuring a brand new, non-album track titled “Leavenhouse. 11:30.” The label has pressed 500 copies of the clear vinyl release, which boasts a screened B-side and can only be obtained with a purchase of the new CD. In related news, The Wonder Years will be playing a few shows after Christmas with Valencia and Crime In Stereo. This of course is just a prelude to the massive amounts of national touring in 2010 in support of the release of The Upsides.

MOTION CITY SOUNDTRACK ‘MY DINOSAUR LIFE’

Motion City Soundtrack confirm My Dinosaur Life as the title of their new album and Columbia Records debut. The album was produced by Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus, who first teamed up with the boys in 2005 when he produced Commit This to Memory, and mixed by Andy Wallace (Nirvana, Rage Against the Machine, Sonic Youth). To give fans their first taste of what’s to come, the band will be releasing “Disappear” – their first new studio song in more than two years – exclusively through iTunes on October 20th.

Motion City Soundtrack has not only built up a reputation for their catchy songs and idiosyncratic lyrics, but as a very visual band with their elaborate and smart videos. FADER PREMIERES MIDNIGHT MASSES “WALK ON WATER”

“While TV On The Radio remains on hiatus, its members stay fully busy. A couple days ago FADER TV talked to Kyp Malone about his Rain Machine solo project; last Saturday, Tunde Adebimpe hosted the Radio Happy Hour variety show in Manhattan; Dave Sitek is probably producing the next pop masterpiece; and Gerard Smith and Jaleel Bunton both jump on this new song from malleable Brooklyn group Midnight Masses. Smith produced it and Bunton lends his as-yet-unheard spectral vocal chords, and both leave no doubt that TVOTR is much more than its three most visible members. As far as Midnight Masses, this open-armed approach is kind of their whole thing, with appearances from Trail of Dead and Here We Go Magic members a not uncommon facet of both their album and live show. And judging by the results of “Walk On Water,” if anyone else wants to jump in the studio with them it would probably not be a bad thing. If “Walk On Water” suits you, the band’s new EP Rapture Ready, I Gazed At The Body is produced entirely by Gerard Smith and will be out Nov 10th via Collect Records.” – Pete Macia.

ANARBOR NEWS

Anarbor has lent its track “You And I” from its Hopeless Records debut EP Free Your Mind to the upcoming Cartoon Network movie, Scooby Doo: The Mystery Begins.

The film will premiere on Cartoon Network on Sunday, September 13 and will be released on DVD and Blu-Ray on September 22. The home video version will include the music video for Anarbor’s “You And I” which premiered on Cartoon Network on August 2 following the weekend-long Scooby Doo marathon, and has been airing in between shows all month long.

THE RACE SHARES TWO SONGS FROM UPCOMING ALBUM

In preparation for the new album, Exiles, coming out next month, The Race is sharing “Black Boat” and “Ride The High Country” as a digital single.

The album comes out September 8th on St. Ives Records which is yet another offshoot of the vast empire of Secretly Canadian. On that very, The Race embarks on a monthlong tour of the US with Telefon Tel Aviv.

FINN RIGGINS WANTS TO SHARE TWO WONDERFUL TRACKS WITH YOU

SWELL SEASON PLAYS NEW SONGS @ NPR

Last week the Swell Season made a trip down to DC for a Tiny Desk Concert at NPR. If you’ve never been to a TDC, they’re quite a sight. They’re literally filmed at the desk of NPR’s Bob Boilen and though Glen admitted he’d never held down a desk job before, he and Marketa were totally in their element, performing seven songs mostly from the new album, and even playing the first-ever Tiny Desk encore!

MIKE HERRERA’S TUMBLEDOWN RELEASES NEW SINGLE

MxPx front-man, Mike Herrera, and his hit pop-punk-a-billy side project, MIKE HERRERA’S TUMBLEDOWN, are releasing the second single off of the band’s debut self-titled album through End Sounds. The “Butcher of San Antone”, has already picked up radio airplay in markets like Louisville and Wilmington, DE and with the new official release is expected to continue with its already paved momentum.
