Motion City Soundtrack confirm My Dinosaur Life as the title of their new album and Columbia Records debut. The album was produced by Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus, who first teamed up with the boys in 2005 when he produced Commit This to Memory, and mixed by Andy Wallace (Nirvana, Rage Against the Machine, Sonic Youth). To give fans their first taste of what’s to come, the band will be releasing “Disappear” – their first new studio song in more than two years – exclusively through iTunes on October 20th.
Motion City Soundtrack has not only built up a reputation for their catchy songs and idiosyncratic lyrics, but as a very visual band with their elaborate and smart videos. That said, they are already working on a video for “Disappear” to be released next month. For the most up-to-date information please visit the band’s web site: www.motioncitysoundtrack.com.

Motion City Soundtrack are heading back into the studio! After a busy 2008 touring the globe, the release of an acoustic EP, and the hit TV series Gossip Girl featuring the track “Fell In Love Without You” off the EP, the band has been hard at work writing the follow-up to 2007’s critically-acclaimed Even If It Kills Me.
Rejoining MCS in the studio to produce their Columbia Records debut will be Mark Hoppus of Blink-182. No stranger to the members of Motion City Soundtrack, Hoppus first teamed up with the band when he produced their hit record Commit This to Memory – which has gone on to sell more than 300,000 copies since its summer 2005 release. In the midst of his super busy schedule reuniting him with his Blink-182 bandmates AND recording new music for their upcoming album, Hoppus has chosen MCS as one of the only records he will produce this year.
The band has also launched a new website that will have new webisodes up every two weeks.

With frontman Craig Owens appearing on the latest cover of Alternative Press–for the second time in less than a year (October 2007, September 2008)–Flint, MI’s CHIODOS continue to gain momentum, almost a year after the release of their hugely successful second album BONE PALACE BALLET. Released in September 2007 on indie label Equal Vision Records, the album debuted at #5 on Billboard’s Top 200 Album Chart. Critical praise for their compelling post-hardcore music–from outlets, including New York Times, Blender, Billboard, Hollywood Reporter, Revolver, Village Voice and UK’s Kerrang! (see quotes below)–has helped bolster sales of the set to over 157,000 copies.
A mainstay on the road, with international appearances spanning clubs, arenas and major rock festivals, CHIODOS has announced their latest tour: a co-headlining fall U.S. trek with Motion City Soundtrack. Set to kick off September 22 in Louisville, KY, the band will bookend the tour with headlining shows across the continental U.S., Alaska and Mexico. Tickets for the tour go on sale to the public Friday, July 25, check www.myspace.com/chiodos for more information.
CHIODOS have also announced they will release a special edition of BONE PALACE BALLET due out this fall; the CD will include brand new songs and a 30-minute teaser of their upcoming concert DVD, title TBA, coming in early 2009.

Phoenix, Arizona’s DEAR AND THE HEADLIGHTS have set a September 30th release date for sophomore album, titled Drunk Like Bible Times. Regarding the unique title, bassist Chuckie Duff explained “it just makes us laugh and people are free to read whatever meaning they want into it. It’s just a good name for what it is – a party record.”
The follow-up to 2007’s Small Steps, Heavy Hooves, has already been named one of the Most Anticipated of 2008 by Alternative Press and DEAR AND THE HEADLIGHTS is certainly not going to disappoint. The album’s opener, “I’m Not Crying. You’re Not Crying, Are You?” may hint at another slow album starter (see: Small Steps, Heavy Hooves’ “Oh No”) but quickly picks the listener up in the band’s familiar piano & tambourine infused pop/indie-rock sound with comparisons to The Flaming Lips. The album’s middle and bridge is “Saintly Rows (Oh Oh)”, a haunting affair channeling Bob Dylan as each line of vocalist Ian Metzger’s lyrics trail off in a sad tone, but ultimately the song builds up to frantic piano lines and a chaotic ending. The theme of the record is most prevalent on the album’s closer, “I Know”: smooth transitions between slowed down, soulful ballads to good old fashioned rock n’ roll.
The 12-track set was recorded with producer and friend, Bob Hoag (The Format, Limbeck), at Flying Blanket Recording in their hometown earlier this summer. “Bob has been pretty influential in the overall sound and to some degree the arrangements on this record, like he was on the last record. He kind of becomes the sixth member in the studio and that works well because we trust him and he hears things the same way we do,” described guitarist, PJ Waxman.
In 2007, the band logged 162 shows on tour with the likes of Circa Survive, Straylight Run, and many more diverse artists. This past Spring, the five-piece spent just over a month opening for emo/indie powerhouses and fellow Arizonians, Jimmy Eat World. During their current headlining trek, DEAR AND THE HEADLIGHTS took the stage with Jimmy Eat World again in a support slot for 5 shows between July 15th and 20th. This fall, the band will hit the road with Minneapolis pop-rock quintet, Motion City Soundtrack, and indie/folk Indianapolis natives, Margot And The Nuclear So & So’s, for The Left Handed Forms Of Human Endeavor tour. Further touring is planned through the end of the year.
