CLOSURE IN MOSCOW ‘THE PENANCE & THE PATIENCE’ EP on sale digitally August 5

Closure In Moscow, a five-piece from down under, is looking to widen its fan base with its catchy, yet melodic, brand of progressive, avant-garde rock. The band’s debut EP The Penance & The Patience (which was originally released in Australia on Taperjean Records and debuted at No. 13 on the Australian Independent Album Charts) will be available as a digital-only release in the U.S. starting August 5 via Science Records.

Having taken on odd jobs to self-finance their EP, or albumette as they say in Australia, the band members (vocalist Chris De Cinque, guitarists Manny Zennelli and Michael Barrett, bassist Brad Kimber and drummer Beau) even sold their cars to fly out producer Kris Crummett (Kaddisfly, Dance Gavin Dance) to their hometown of Melbourne to record.

Reminiscent of The Mars Volta, Circa Survive, and Chiodos, Closure in Moscow has more in common with complex, seasoned bands like Rush and Tool than they do with fellow Aussie rockers AC/DC; pretty impressive for a band whose average age is 21.

Currently selling out shows all over Australia and touring with the likes of Coheed and Cambria, the band will head Stateside in September to begin writing songs for their upcoming full-length release which should be out late ‘08/early ‘09. A fall U.S. tour  from September through November is in the works right now.

…AND YOU WILL KNOW US BY THE TRAIL OF DEAD sign to Justice Records

…And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead sign to Justice Records (distributed via Fontana/Universal for all territories outside of Europe) and announce the launch of their Richter Scale Records imprint. The Justice Records/Richter Scale Records partnership will yield the band’s sixth full-length record (as yet untitled), due out January ’09.  Recorded in Austin, TX, the band tapped the producing talents of longtime friends Mike McCarthy (Spoon, Patty Griffin) and Chris “Frenchie” Smith (Sixteen Deluxe, Smog) for sessions at The Mob House and The Bubble, respectively.  Mixed by Chris Coady (TV on the Radio, Yeah Yeah Yeahs), the release promises to push Trail of Dead’s already pioneering and explosive sound further by focusing on creating a more anthemic record with homage’s to artists both obscure and well-known.

Formed in late 1994 by singers/guitarists/drummers Conrad Keely and Jason Reece, Trail of Dead has evolved into a six piece collective whose line-up is rounded out by guitarist/singer and longtime bandmate Kevin Allen, pianist/singer Clay Morris and drummer/singer Aaron Ford and bass/singer Jay Phillips from Nashville’s Forget Cassettes. Since their self-titled debut album (1998 / Trance Syndicate) and its successor Madonna (1999 / Merge Records), …And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead have been among America’s most important and influential acts. They’ve built a massive cult following for their notorious live shows and have earned critical acclaim for their innovative and passionate music.

After releasing three albums on Interscope – Source, Tags and Codes (2002), Worlds Apart (2005) and So Divided (2006) – the band is excited about returning to their indie rock roots with the Justice Records/Richter Scale Records partnering. Keely hopes the band’s imprint will “allow them to seek the creative freedom envisioned by the founding fathers of our great nation, immune from the tyranny of the corporate ogre.”

03.26.08 Valient Thorr Reschedule Dates for Valient Himself to Donate Kidney
Valient Himself announced today that Valient Thorr will be postponing all activities April 15th through June 10th to allow him to donate a kidney to his ailing father. Valient’s decision to take public what is a private family event stems from the National Kidney Foundation’s outreach. As Valient Thorr is on a single-minded mission to spread their message of redemption wrapped in rock n’ roll, this is another chance to illuminate a critically important issue that people don’t think about unless they are personally touched. Says Valient (pictured), “If I can go from a hospital bed to playing in front of a crowd of 75,000 at the UK’s Download Festival in just eight weeks, people out there might consider becoming organ donors as well. If they have family members who need a kidney, it’s definitely something to think about; and if not, they can still learn about designating themselves as organ donors on their driver’s license.” More information on kidney donations can be found at http://www.kidney.org or http://www.livingdonors.org.

03.25.08 BAYSIDE TO RE-RELEASE WALKING WOUNDED
Long Island’s beloved BAYSIDE are to release The Walking Wounded: Gold Edition on July 22, 2008, a deluxe CD/DVD package of their fourth studio album. The extended CD package will include live acoustic tracks to be recorded at a special performance that will be filmed at Looney Tunes in Long Island on Monday, May 12th. (Visit http://www.ltcds.com for more details on the in-store performance). The accompanying DVD is planned to include the full Looney Tunes performance, behind-the-scenes documentary of the band on their Spring 2008 tour, and their music videos from The Walking Wounded.

Directed by Josh Horowitz, Bayside’s new video for their track “Carry On” will debut as the “Featured Video” on MySpace.com this Wednesday, March 26th. The single release date in the UK is 7th July.

Once their current national headlining tour with The Starting Line wraps up in late Spring, the band plan to enter Los Angeles’ Red Bull Studios in June to write and record their fifth studio album, tentatively titled Shudder. The follow-up to The Walking Wounded is set for release September 30, 2008 and will be produced by David Schiffman (Weezer, Jimmy Eat World, Johnny Cash).

“I think we know what Bayside is supposed to sound like,” explains vocalist/guitarist Anthony Raneri. “We have figured it out and we don’t plan on changing the formula. We love what we’ve become and we can only hope to get better at what we do. We have the most time we’ve ever had to prepare for this record from the writing process to the recording process but we want to be sure not to overthink the songs and let them sound the way they were meant to sound. It is going to be the fastest, most energetic, catchiest and most exciting record we have ever made. We are feeling youthful and excited as people and I think it is going to come out in the music.”

Island Def Jam Music Group has signed a new long-term extension with Ludacris for his Disturbing Tha Peace label, it was jointly announced today by Antonio “L.A.” Reid, chairman, Island Def Jam Music Group, and the three principals of the Atlanta-based Disturbing Tha Peace label: Ludacris (aka Chris Bridges), Chaka Zulu and Jeff Dixon.

“The Atlanta hip-hop scene and the Dirty South movement in general owe more than they can ever repay to Chris,” said Mr. Reid. “Our friendship stretches back more than a decade and I never cease to be amazed at his imagination, creativity, and most of all his outrageous sense of humor. Now hanging business conditions necessitate that we review our respective rosters and focus to ensure that future opportunities and challenges are aggressively achieved. 02.27.08 DARKEST HOUR CANCELS FEW TOUR DATES
Darkest Hour
Alexa [04.11pm]
regrets that we have to cancel the last remaining days of our Doomsayer’s North American Tour. However, all of the shows will go on as scheduled (with the Red Chord headlining New York City, NY, and Allentown, PA) except for Washington, DC, which has been outright canceled.
The tour has been an amazing time but guitarist Kris Norris has been summoned home to attend to the early birth of his first little baby.
It is with great joy that we wish Kris and his wife Christina luck with their new addition to the family.
Sometimes when you live out on the road, life back home has to be put first. We couldnt have asked for a better tour package on this tour and our hearts go out to EMMURE, WHITE CHAPEL, and CHEPHALIC CARNAGE. We only hope to be blessed with their mighty rock again sometime soon.
Utmost, we apologize to all the fans, friends, dudes and dudettes out there in (NY, DC, and PA). We will be back to make it up to you for sure! We will see ya this summer with a surprise that we can’t wait to announce.
Thanks-
Darkest Hour

01.15.08 Mike Supina from Alucard (Search and Rescue) joins A Wilhelm Scream
Mike Supina of Alucard (Search and Rescue Records) has recently joined A Wilhelm Scream to fill its vacant guitarist position. Supina was with the band during its recent tour alongside Only Crime and Alucard’s labelmates The Swellers, and will be joining AWS for future tours and going into the studio with them at the end of the year to write another record.

A Wilhelm Scream posted a blog detailing the move:
To our loyal fans, critics, and people who don’t give a fuck – (but will post their opinion on the internet anyway out of a sheer attempt for attenion in their otherwise meaningless lives), A miracle has happened. No, not one of those miracles where a holiday will be made out of it in years to come, but something that should at least be celebrated with maybe a pathetic “ticker-tape parade”. (Like that episode of the Simpsons…”Welcome home, Space-girl!” … was that the pretzel episode?) Mike Supina, (aka. “Meehow”, “Shit-Dick”, “Psycho-Mike-oh”, etc.)… will be joining us on all of our upcoming tours, and coming into the studio with us at the end of the year to write the next record. Mike was with us on the tour with Only Crime and The Swellers, and he touched us – in a way that we want none of our girlfriends or parents/loved ones to know about. Never the less, there was a connection. So if any of you were wondering who the new guitarist is, It’s fuckin’ MIKE, okay?!?! SO, we’re fucking stoked to have this destroyer of a guitarist with us, in my opinion, he’s one of the best musician’s I’ve ever had the chance to share a stage with, and I can speak for the band when I say that we’re extremely excited to see what he brings to the table when we lock ourselves into the practice room to put together all the ideas that all of us have. THAT BEING SAID, we’ll see you UK fuckers in the next few days… and I know that there are places on the internet that say we’re going to (main land)europe (and many other strange, far away places) later on this year… it’s true, i just don’t know if i’m allowed to talk about it, or mention it yet. OOPS! More news at 11, Bri.

01.09.08 The Return of LESS THAN JAKE
The first four re-releases out of the gate on March 18, 2008 will be Goodbye Blue And White, Pezcore, Losers, Kings And Things We Don’t Understand and a DVD of Peoples History Of Less Than Jake. Packed with new artwork and a bonus DVD component for each of the albums, these will not only be must-haves for their legion of fans but a great introduction to the new breed of indie punk kids. “We wanted to start with Losers, Kings, And Things We Don’t Understand, which was our first recorded material as a band,” Vinnie continues. “These literally are some of the first songs we recorded together, and it seemed obvious that it should be one of the first releases on our newly started record label Sleep It Off. As a musician, the fact that I can help not only in creative marketing but release the actual audible history of our band on our own label is mind blowing. I think it’s a great time for the Music Industry that, despite the lagging sales, you are allowed to write and rewrite the rules. These days, it’s like the Old West, so to speak.”

After a brief two-month hiatus, Damiera have returned to writing and performing music with a brand new lineup.

Back in April, three fourths of Damiera left the band to pursue other goals. The departing members were “seeking satisfaction elsewhere,” says continuing member and vocalist Dave Raymond, “they wanted to take another road for now… without having to be committed to a group setting.”

The new members consist of guitarist Steve Downs and drummer Josh Sparks, formerly of the Iowa-based band Spirit of the Stairway, and Jayson Dezuzio, a long time professional producer whose resume includes work with Coheed and Cambria, My Chemical Romance, and more. Dezuzio also produced the latest Damiera album, M(US)IC, which was released in January.

“I love music, and I will continue to let go of every excess (money, home, health, etc) in order to find my end in it,” states Raymond, “I have been extremely fortunate this far, but I’d rather end with nothing and satisfied than end with everything and not use it.”

06.02.07 A Letter From The Sleeping!
“This happens to be OUR FIRST HEADLINING TOUR EVER!!! It is an amazing feeling and we are extremely excited!!

We will be doing different legs of this tour and we will be bringing bands we not only think rock… but who are just all around good people that understand the importance of hard work and honesty. The bands/bros we will be bringing are:

    Envy On the Coast (7/06-7/17)
A Thorn for Every Heart (7/18-8/03)
    I Am the Avalanche (8/04-8/17)
A Day to Remember (ALL DATES)
    Valeyra (ALL DATES)

We cannot wait to hit the road with all of our good friends in these incredible bands.

Although, there is something else we would like to mention.

Every day we come across so many young bands who have been working their asses off trying to make a name for themselves. We see how important this life is to those doing it for the sake of working hard and bringing back honest music to the fans and that is something we have always appreciated. We told ourselves that one day if we ever got the chance, we would do our best to help out as many of those bands as possible.

So many bands get to a certain level and forget the fact that they once struggled to be where they are. Some take for granted the fact that they had good family, friends etc. from every angle believing in them and being supportive when they were at their worst of times and we think that sucks.

So with that said, we will be adding a local band on every single bill in every single city. Some will be good friends, some will be who we have met at gas stations and some will be found on the good ole’ Information Super Highway. No matter how we find them, we WILL have a local band on every show.

We might not know locals in every town we play, so we set up an email and myspace so people can let us know. Tell us about the best bands we dont know here www.myspace.com/196158479 or thesleepingtour2007@gmail.com.

Thank you all so much for taking the time to read this.

We really hope to see EVERY SINGLE ONE of our fans, new and old at these shows. Please come out and support. Lets have a tweakin good time!”

05.25.07 A MESSAGE FROM ON THE LAST DAY!
    “On The Last Day Fans,
We regret to inform you that singer Geoff Walker will no longer be a part of On The Last Day. For a while now, the band (Aaron, Drew, Frank, and Justin) has been trying to grow in a direction that Geoff’s presence would not allow. We feel that this course of action is ultimately the best for On The Last Day to continue its natural progression. We wish Geoff the best of luck with his future endeavors — wherever they may lead.
Make no mistake, On The Last Day will not stop here. Aaron, Drew, Frank, and Justin will continue On The Last Day without Geoff and begin searching for a new vocalist immediately. We currently have new material in the works and hope to debut it as soon as possible.

If you would like to audition, please contact us at:
    singforotld@gmail.com

    We hope you all understand.

    Love,
    OTLD”

Also included on the disc are alternate versions of eight songs from the group’s 2006 full-length, Lover, The Lord Has Left Us…, that have been completely remixed by Portugal The Man, Technology, Evol Intent, and more.

    05.21.07 A DAY TO FORGET!
Neil Westfall, guitarist for Victory Records pop-mosh band, A Day To Remember, wishes Thursday, 5/3 had never happened. The situation is still under investigation but Neils family home burned down and the family has lost all their possessions. As the band was preparing to leave for their tour later in the week, this occurred and all Neil has is the clothes on his back.

If fans and kind hearts want to send him a message of cheer or make a donation to help out with his loss, give him a shout at xneilx@tmail.com.

    05.21.07 GO-KART SIGNS BANNER PILOT!
Go-kart Records are more than excited to announce that they have signed Banner Pilot.

Banner Pilot is a punk rock band from sunny Minneapolis, MN. What do they sound like? Well, imagine if Jawbreaker, The Lawrence Arms and the Alkaline Trio all got in a knife fight and Jawbreaker won, but just barely. Does that even make sense? Probably not. Either way, the music is great.

Formed in 2005, Banner Pilot self-released an 8-song EP called Pass the Poison in 2006. They will be heading into the studio this summer to record their debut full-length. When we know more details we will let you know.

Check out Banner Pilot at their myspace page to get a first impression: www.myspace.com/bannerpilot.
