BLACKBERRY SMOKE TO TOUR WITH LYNYRD SKYNRYD

If you had asked the members of Blackberry Smoke which other band’s audience would be most receptive to their unique brand of Outlaw Country and Rock, there’s no doubt that the legendary Lynyrd Skynyrd would have been the answer. Now, with the announcement of seven shows supporting Skynyrd, Blackberry Smoke is going to get the opportunity to play for the seminal Southern Rock icons’ loyal audience.

Blackberry Smoke is currently on tour in the United States to promote Little Piece Of Dixie. The band will then make their first trip to Europe in December before joining Lynyrd Skynyrd again January 21-25 for the band’s annual Simple Man cruise.

TEAM SCIENCE TO RELEASE FRANZ NICOLAY (THE HOLD STEADY) 10-INCH

Team Science is pleased to announce that on November 10th, it will release St. Sebastian Of The Short Stage, a brand new four-song EP from Hold Steady and World / Inferno Friendship Society member, Franz Nicolay.

The album, available in both 10-inch vinyl and digital formats, is now up for pre-order from Team Science, which will press 500 copies of the EP (200 clear, 300 black). Each record includes a free mp3 download for all the songs, a pullout poster insert and an exclusive new short story by Nicolay entitled “Paraska Mikhailivna Is A Witch.” Also, for a limited time all pre-orders will receive a free Franz Nicolay corkscrew and button set.

Featuring artwork by Nicholas Gazin, St. Sebastian Of The Short Stage comes on the heels of Nicolay’s acclaimed solo debut, Major General. The four brand new tracks include a collaboration with the Dresden Dolls on a cover of Jonathan Richman’s “New England,” a Watchmen-inspired tribute to a retired superhero, and two songs self-described as “bleeding heart weepies.”

The mustachioed keyboardist is currently on tour in Europe with Mark Eitzel.

LOCKSLEY ADDS MORE TOUR DATES

Locksley returns with their new album Be In Love on January 26th, 2010. The four-piece band, brothers Jesse and Jordan Laz, Kai Kennedy, and Sam Bair are very excited about the new material. “We’ve broadened and narrowed our outlook on this album” Jesse remarked. “We added a third vocalist and songwriter in Jordan, which was big and we were listening to and pulling from a larger variety of music than before. At the same time, we cut a lot of fat in our parts and tightened up the arrangements quite a bit so the album ends up feeling more focused than the last one, even though it’s spread out over more voices.”
