THE COLOR FRED ANNOUNCES VIRTUAL TOUR

Unlike most tours whose tickets include service charges, handling fees, and parking costs, the upcoming “Virtual Tour” for THE COLOR FRED will be accessible through the internet with no fees whatsoever! In support of the upcoming THE INTERVENTION EP which hits stores on April 18th, this “virtual tour” consists of five exclusive and very intimate acoustic performances by singer/songwriter Fred Mascherino that are spread out on five different websites and portals. AltPress.com, MySpace, AOL, Peta2 and Shockhound will debut one video each on Monday, April 12th. To see the whole tour, fans will need to visit each of the five sites and view the videos.

Set for release on “National Record Store Day” (Saturday, April 18th), this EP was recorded specifically for this year’s event. “I want to remind everyone out there that independent record stores still exist,” Fred explains. “[The Intervention EP] won’t be available at Best Buy, Target, or any of the major retailers. It’ll only be available at indie retail stores. It’s my way of supporting indie stores since they’ve always supported me.” (a list of stores is available on the band’s MySpace page). The Color Fred will be celebrating the release with an in-store at Vintage Vinyl (51 Lafayette Rd., Fords, NJ 08863) at 1:00pm on April 18th.

The “tour” begins at the band’s MySpace page at www.myspace.com/thecolorfred. The corresponding blog on the page will offer a “road map” with links to the different “stops” on the tour. The participating sites and videos will be:
Myspace: “Intervention” (www.myspace.com/thecolorfred)
AltPress.com: “Complaintor” (www.altpress.com)
Shockhound: “Terrible Things” (shockhound.com)
PETA2: “Dark Clouds” (peta2.com)
AOL’s “Spinner”: “If I Surrender” (spinner.com)

Water & Bodies (ex-Kaddisfly) Releasing New Music

For now, Portland’s newest eclectic indie rock outfit, Water & Bodies, can only be heard live. But starting April 15th, the four-piece will be streaming their very first song online, exclusively at RainCityRecords.net. With no music currently available for listening, these former members of Kaddisfly have already garnered over 27,000 views on MySpace in a few short months, and have been bringing in strong, eager crowds to their local shows.

Having recorded without many of today’s technological aids, Water & Bodies will be releasing a self-titled EP on May 15th via Portland-based Rain City Records. The EP will be available digitally through the label’s website, and a vinyl release of the album is expected to follow.

Water & Bodies plan to promote the record locally and regionally throughout the spring and early summer.

VICTORY RECORDS signs OTEP to recording, merchandising and publishing deal

“Smash The Control Machine” in stores August 18th, 2009.

VICTORY RECORDS has signed Los Angeles recording artist OTEP. OTEP’s all encompassing musical approach coupled with her shaman like artistic qualities and other creative musings have lead to over half a million albums sold over the course of three studio albums. Singer, songwriter, renegade Otep Shamaya describes the band’s music as …”a total and complete mutiny on the senses. We are a fusion band by nature, inspired by many styles and tones from a variety of musical genres- rock, punk, metal, hip-hop, spoken word, jazz and classic rock. We never allow the antiquated limits of a genre confine or restrict us. Our music is universal and does not belong nor can it be contained in a nice, neat, little box.”

The first release under the new alliance is OTEP’s highly anticipated fourth full-length studio album Smash the Control Machine. The new studio album will be released August 18, 2009. Ms. Shamaya says of the album, “The economic crisis is hitting every working family in this country. The album and its title track, “Smash The Control Machine”, will lay bare the greed and corruption that fostered this calamity, but will also focus on the undying spirit of the working class that always fights the good fight. The title is a line from a William S. Burroughs poem. It is my intention to create an album that serves every head of the hydra that is OTEP. From poetry, to politics, to shock and awe, to sex and righteousness, to standing up and fighting back. Like the mystical symbol of the Ouroboros (the sacred serpent swallowing its tail) all things will be brought back to circle.”
