WENDY’S/MYSPACE RECORDS HAVE LAUNCHED ‘FRESH FACES’ CAMPAIGN

Wendy’s and MySpace Records have teamed up to launch a new Internet series called “Fresh Faces.” Building on Wendy’s motto of ‘You Know When It’s Real,’ the ongoing Web program will include 9 episodes from three different emerging artists showing what a ‘day in the life’ of a budding new artist is like.

Each “Fresh Faces” artist will have its own 3 episodes than can be seen exclusively at www.myspace.com/wendys, in addition to a 3-song EP available for free download on the site. A new episode will debut every Wednesday throughout the series. The first episode featuring Charleston, SC alternative pop rock artist Friends For Hire (www.myspace.com/friendsforhire) is up now at www.myspace.com/wendys.

Stay tuned for new episodes on future “Fresh Faces” artists, including a new hip-hop artist from Los Angeles and a Brooklyn based beat-pop band, all handpicked from MySpace Records’ Friends and Family, a group of developing artists MySpace Records helps market and promote.

MYSPACE AND TOYOTA LAUNCH “ROCK THE SPACE” COMPETITION FOR UNSIGNED ARTISTS TO WIN A RECORD DEAL

MySpace the world’s premiere social portal, in partnership with MySpace Records and Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), USA, Inc., today announced the official launch of Rock the Space, an exclusive competition encouraging unsigned bands or solo artists to submit an original song for the opportunity to score a recording contract with MySpace Records, the company’s full-service independent label. Beginning today through July 1, 2009, aspiring artists across the country can enter to win the chance of a lifetime by visiting Toyota’s MySpace Music profile for submission details and contest rules http://www.myspace.com/toyotamusic.

To enter the Rock the Space competition artists must submit an original mp3 demo. All entrants will have the opportunity to create a viral music widget with an easy embed code to help them spread their music across MySpace and the web. MySpace users can share in the experience by adding the music widgets to their profiles and posting comments on the Toyota Music profile.

In July, MySpace Records will select five finalists who will be featured prominently on the Toyota Music profile and the MySpace community will vote to select the winner. The five finalists will receive a media allocation to promote themselves with My Ads targeted advertising throughout MySpace.

The Rock the Space winner will be announced in September and will receive a recording contract as well as a $10,000 musical instrument prize package provided by Fender, the world’s leading guitar manufacturer. The winner’s song will also be available for download on the MySpace Music Home Page. The four runners-up win a MySpace Records Development Deal friends package.

Rock the Space will create an organic and loyal fan base with a vested interest in these artists and their careers by allowing users to participate in the process from the beginning,” said J. Scavo, GM of MySpace Records. “This interactivity between artist and fan has always been a fundamental and differentiating factor for the MySpace Music platform and has led to the success of many of today’s most popular artists.”

THE COLOR FRED ANNOUNCES VIRTUAL TOUR

Unlike most tours whose tickets include service charges, handling fees, and parking costs, the upcoming “Virtual Tour” for THE COLOR FRED will be accessible through the internet with no fees whatsoever! In support of the upcoming THE INTERVENTION EP which hits stores on April 18th, this “virtual tour” consists of five exclusive and very intimate acoustic performances by singer/songwriter Fred Mascherino that are spread out on five different websites and portals. AltPress.com, MySpace, AOL, Peta2 and Shockhound will debut one video each on Monday, April 12th. To see the whole tour, fans will need to visit each of the five sites and view the videos.

Set for release on “National Record Store Day” (Saturday, April 18th), this EP was recorded specifically for this year’s event. “I want to remind everyone out there that independent record stores still exist,” Fred explains. “[The Intervention EP] won’t be available at Best Buy, Target, or any of the major retailers. It’ll only be available at indie retail stores. It’s my way of supporting indie stores since they’ve always supported me.” (a list of stores is available on the band’s MySpace page). The Color Fred will be celebrating the release with an in-store at Vintage Vinyl (51 Lafayette Rd., Fords, NJ 08863) at 1:00pm on April 18th.

The “tour” begins at the band’s MySpace page at www.myspace.com/thecolorfred. The corresponding blog on the page will offer a “road map” with links to the different “stops” on the tour. The participating sites and videos will be:
Myspace: “Intervention” (www.myspace.com/thecolorfred)
AltPress.com: “Complaintor” (www.altpress.com)
Shockhound: “Terrible Things” (shockhound.com)
PETA2: “Dark Clouds” (peta2.com)
