INTRODUCING INITIALS

Initials is Fred Mascherino (The Color Fred/Taking Back Sunday), Andy Jackson (Hot Rod Circuit/Death In The Park), Steven Lucarelli (Once Nothing), and Anthony Martone (ex-VersaEmerge).

“With two singer/songwriters in the band, the sky’s the limit with creativity” says Andy of the new band, who together with Fred will be sharing singing duties on this project that they describe as American Rock Revival Music. Adds bassist Steve Lucarelli, “The four of us happened to be looking to join a band at the same time so we’re starting out on the same page. It’s been great seeing happens when we get in a room together. Our goal is to play great songs and hit the road immediately.”

The first batch of songs by Initials (which will be unveiled at their very first show on Wednesday evening) share a thematic thread very close to Fred. Motivated by a series of fires that terrorized his hometown of Coatesville, PA earlier this year (a number of arsonists were finally arrested in the spring but not before setting almost 50 fires), the songs he has written tell a tale of physical and emotional tolls on a couple trying to stay awake at night to protect their home while having to get through regular life during the day. He and Andy will spend the next few months fleshing out the rest of the album which is lated for a 2010 release.

Initials plays their first show at The Note in West Chester, PA tonight.

BLACK NUMBERS TO RELEASE P.J. BOND’S FULL LENGTH

Black Numbers is pleased to announce that it will release You Didn’t Know I Was Alphabetical, the latest full-length from New Brunswick, NJ native and ex-Outsmarting Simon front man PJ Bond.

The album, which will be released November 10th on both vinyl and CD formats, is now up for pre-order from the label. Black Numbers will press 300 copies of the LP (100 white, 200 blue), as well as a short run (200) of hand-screened CDs with liner notes personally written by PJ. No two of these limited edition discs are alike. There is an “official” CD version of You Didn’t Know I Was Alphabetical as well. To grab a copy (or all three), go here.

Beside Outsmarting Simon, Bond has also been a member of The Color Fred, Charlotte Sometimes, Marigold and Communipaw (with brother, Brian Bond). In comparison to previous endeavors, Alphabetical is decidedly more organic, homespun affair – a heartfelt slice of creaky, back porch Americana tossed against a perfectly catchy pop backdrop. Still, the record has a little bit of everything, from rustic, uptempo alt-country rockers to haunting, melancholy acoustic offerings and sweetly infectious indie numbers. For fans of Rocky Votolato, Neutral Milk Hotel, Whiskeytown and Elliott Smith.

Listen to “You, Too” (free mp3)

On a related note, Bond has given up his permanent residence, dedicating a year of his life to living on the road, bunking with friends, family, fans and even strangers, and playing as many shows in between. He chronicles his nomadic adventures on his blog, Year Of A Thousand Roommates. Check it out!
There will be extensive touring of the East Coast and Midwest in November. Before that though, Bond will travel to the UK for two weeks of shows beginning on October 2nd.

THE COLOR FRED ANNOUNCES VIRTUAL TOUR

Unlike most tours whose tickets include service charges, handling fees, and parking costs, the upcoming “Virtual Tour” for THE COLOR FRED will be accessible through the internet with no fees whatsoever! In support of the upcoming THE INTERVENTION EP which hits stores on April 18th, this “virtual tour” consists of five exclusive and very intimate acoustic performances by singer/songwriter Fred Mascherino that are spread out on five different websites and portals. AltPress.com, MySpace, AOL, Peta2 and Shockhound will debut one video each on Monday, April 12th. To see the whole tour, fans will need to visit each of the five sites and view the videos.

Set for release on “National Record Store Day” (Saturday, April 18th), this EP was recorded specifically for this year’s event. “I want to remind everyone out there that independent record stores still exist,” Fred explains. “[The Intervention EP] won’t be available at Best Buy, Target, or any of the major retailers. It’ll only be available at indie retail stores. It’s my way of supporting indie stores since they’ve always supported me.” (a list of stores is available on the band’s MySpace page). The Color Fred will be celebrating the release with an in-store at Vintage Vinyl (51 Lafayette Rd., Fords, NJ 08863) at 1:00pm on April 18th.

The “tour” begins at the band’s MySpace page at www.myspace.com/thecolorfred. The corresponding blog on the page will offer a “road map” with links to the different “stops” on the tour. The participating sites and videos will be:
Myspace: “Intervention” (www.myspace.com/thecolorfred)
AltPress.com: “Complaintor” (www.altpress.com)
Shockhound: “Terrible Things” (shockhound.com)

Ace Enders Announces Spring Tour with All American Rejects!

After warming up for his forthcoming acoustic US tour alongside Craig Owens (Chiodos) and Fred Mascherino (The Color Fred) with a handful of Soundwave Festival dates in Australia, ACE ENDERS gears up for a Spring tour supporting All American Rejects. Following Ace’s solo tour in March, the All American Rejects tour kicks off on April 5th in Albuquerque, NM, and includes a performance at The Bamboozle in East Rutherford, NJ on May 2nd.

Enders hits the road hard over the next few months in support of his new album, When I Hit The Ground, which hits streets on March 17th via Drive-Thru/Vagrant. ALTERNATIVE PRESS magazine boasts “When I Hit The Ground is one of the best glossy hybrids resulting from a clean collision of nu-emo and ‘90’s alternative pop,” and likened the album to Jimmy Eat World’s Chase This Light and Jack’s Mannequinn’s Everything In Transit.

Former frontman of alt-rock innovators The Early November (who have sold over 500,000 albums), Ace Enders “continues to progress” (Alternative Press) with his new project, Ace Enders & A Million Different People. Ace and his Million Different People recently filmed a video for the first single, “The Only Thing I Have (The Sign),” which will be premiering this month.
