OLD CANES SIGN TO SADDLE CREEK

Saddle Creek has announced the signing of Lawrence, KS-based Old Canes and will release the band’s sophomore album, Feral Harmonic, on October 20, 2009.

Old Canes architect Chris Crisci (also known as half of Appleseed Cast) constructed Feral Harmonic largely alone in his basement studio. He played the majority of the instrumentation himself with additional help from a cast of musician friends contributing various parts, including trumpet, harmophone, cello, and hammer dulcimer, among other instruments. As recording was regularly interrupted by touring, work, other projects, and life in general, production on the album took nearly three and a half years to complete.

MOTLEY CRUE AND MONSTER ENERGY ADD ADDITIONAL STAGE TO CRUE FEST 2

Crüe Fest 2 announced a partnership with Monster Energy to add an additional stage at most dates on this year’s festival. The new Monster Energy Stage doubles the entertainment value at Crüe Fest 2 with five additional bands – Rev Theory, Cavo, Shram and 16 Second Stare plus one band chosen locally in select markets, showcasing the next generation of rock. With no change in ticket prices, rock fans will now see ten great rock bands for the price of one. For the cost of a Mötley Crüe concert, fans will see a day long rock festival with Mötley as the headliners. The Used Give Away “Blood On My Hands” Guitar Tab

The Used is giving away a new guitar tab each week at TheUsed.net from their new album Artwork, in stores September 1st. The first handwritten tab is “Blood On My Hands”. The band is encouraging users to play and upload video of their guitar skills to each new song released before street date at TheUsed.net.

ATMOSPHERE – FREE EP & SUMMER TOUR!

Atmosphere dropped a surprise Independence Day treat on their fans in the form of a free EP called Leak At Will. The EP coincides with Atmosphere’s summer tour plans that include performances at Lollapolooza in Chicago, Outside Lands in San Francisco and a full slate of US Headlining dates highlighted by a show at Red Rocks in Colorado with Aesop Rock & Murs. CHEAP TRICK’S ‘THE LATEST’ HITS NATIONAL RETAIL JULY 21st

Cheap Trick’s new album The Latest is set for a national retail release on July 21st via the band’s own label Cheap Trick Unlimited distributed by RED. With exclusive availability since June 23rd through the band’s website and Amazon.com, the new outing has garnered positive reviews from critics and fans alike.

The band is also releasing The Latest on limited edition vinyl and 8-track through their official website. Recently, Robin Zander and Rick Nielsen made a special appearance on The Colbert Report as Stephen Colbert is quite a fan of the 8-track format and the band.
